That's a bit optimistic, If 1 of the 3 can be kept happy on a good contract it'll be a smashing success. But no way all 3 are gonna stay.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up.

Doesn't change anything about what I said in my post, whatsoever.

Looking at the Dubois return it seems the goal is to be a deeper, more balanced four line team. In saying that maybe we see something like this upfront:
Connor-Scheifele-Niederreiter
Iafollo-Perfetti-Vilardi
Ehlers-Namestnikov-Kupari
Barron-Lowry-Appleton
Gustafson

Only I like the idea of putting 17 and 55 on the same line (likely with 27 or 91) it seems. We rolled a few games with them together last year. I really liked it. I think with Kupari in, we have an opportunity to run a really solid third line that scores a little more. hardworking 4th that can take minutes and rotate some Moose prospects through as injuries strike.

Lowry Scheifele Perfetti
Connor Vilardi Ehlers
Iaffalo Kupari Niederreiter
Barron Namestnikov Appleton
Gus/Harkins

I think this is a much better forward group than last year.

I think people might also be onto something with Vilardi and Schief.

Connor - Schief - Vilardi
Iaffalo - Perfetti- Ehlers

Looks like a fun top 6. We got so many options now. Thanks LA.

If we can keep Scheif and Helle we have a decently solid lineup. A solid top 2RHD would go a long way. Trouble is they are incredibly hard to find.

Yep it looks solid honestly. Plus we have Lambert, Lucius, McGroarty, Barlow and Levis cooking. And the wildcard Russian in Rashevsky.

It seems Iafollo played a lot with Kopitar. His game should certainly help Scheifele.

Iafollo - Scheifele - Ehlers
Connor - Perfetti - Vilardi
Nino - Lowry -Kupari
Barron - Namestnikov - Appleton

*coaches tend to like pairs and the 3rd guy is moved in and out depending on game situation. It LOOKS like Bowness will have lots of options.

**I wonder about third line Connor? Put him on a line with Lowry and Kupari and suddenly the 3rd line has scoring potential and stil being good defensively (covering for the clueless in the D zone scoring whizz)

Ive said it a bunch of times already but I just don't see Perfetti at 2C this season... too much pressure - I like him on the 3rd line to ease into C with maybe Lowry

I'd give Vilardi a shot at 2C before Perfetti but looks like Vilardi performs better on wing right now too

i think size bias will have vilardi to start at 2c.
i'm hoping he's a good guy bias doesn't have namestnikov there .

I said the same thing when Stas came back as a UFA... and he ended up being a pretty good 2C

Its a tough call because Jets really need a defensive winger on the Scheif line or it will collapse like it does every year... but yeah, I'd way rather see Vilardi than Names as our 2C

Would really like to see Barron get more of a shot at C - we still need him to evolve into Copp 2.0

Knowing Bones/Chevy, the Jets will likely ice something like this come Game 1:

Connor Scheifele Niederreiter
Ehlers Vilardi Perfetti
Iafallo Lowry Namestnikov
Barron Kupari Appleton

someone said it earlier, but that is probably the best bottom 6 in a while.

I see it to start the season as

Connor/Scheif/Ehlers
Iafallo/Pertti/Vilardi
Nino/Lowry/Apples
Barron/Names/Kupari
Im curious - are you putting Iafallo on the 2nd line above Nino because of chemistry with Vilardi or you think he can be a trigger man for Perfetti?

This is harder than it looks.

Here are my main stays (X's are variable):

Connor - Scheifele - X (Need RH/TWF/PLY)
Ehlers - X - X (Need C/TWF/SNP/ PLY)
X - Lowry - X
X - X - X

Top 6 Potential X's:
Perfetti (LH/C), Vilardi (RH/C), Iafollo (LH/C), Names (LH/C), Nino (LH/W)

My FWD Line Suggestion:

Connor - Scheifele - Nino*(Not RH)
Ehlers - Perfetti* - Vilardi*
Iafollo* - Lowry - Names*
Barron* - Kup* - Appleton*

Some additional notes:

First Line RW:
Ehlers should be up there on the top line, but his player type doesnt fit "the mold" alongside 55 & 81 who are mainstays on the top line.

We need a defensive minded playmaker to go with those guys imo. Nino (while not a Right handed shooter is the best option).

2nd Line C:
Perfetti needs to be in top 6, and should be given an opportunity at C. He is not bumping 55, so a 2C he is in my lineup.

2nd Line RW:
We need a bigger body to go with Perfetti and Ehlers. A defensive minded shooter would fit the bill. With a big frame and great shot, I have placed centreman Vilardi here to start the season.

3rd Line:
Lowry is a staple on the 3rd line at Centre imo. While Names and Iafollo could certainly jump between the 2nd and 3rd line, i feel they are best suited with what i would call our shutdown line.

As much as I love the chemistry between apples and Lowry. No way can I put Lowry on the 4th, or Apples ahead of Noname and Iafollo.

I like the lineup we have right now better than what we've had the past few years to be honest. First time we've had any semblance of depth since the playoff run. If we can get a legit goalie in to replace Helle or if Brossoit can be a decent #1 I wouldn't be surprised if this team made the playoffs. Huge caveat being what happens with the Scheifele and Helle trades.

the depth is shaping up to be solid however i have thought similarly in previous years when we had stastny+copp+perreault along w/ PLD at C. it slips my mind that we have nino still sometimes lol.

GF: league rank
19-20: 17th (this is per-game since differing gp across the league)
CDN Div: 12th
21-22: 17th
22-23: 21st

will be interesting to see how the key swaps PLD+Wheeler for Vilardi+Iafallo/full-year Nino and Names will impact our ranking.
