Second year in a row spring brings chaos to Kazakhstan NT camp, last year couple of their Swedes walked out, this year bunch of their Russians are throwing out their Kazakh passports. I have to admit, I love to see Kazakh NT finally getting what they deserve for icing these ugly rosters year after year.

Leonid Metalnikov is out...
Leonid Metalnikov is out... Kazakhs will be happy to save themselves in the elite division

Leonid Metalnikov is a loss, but so is Sagadeyev and the few Russian-born players that have abandoned the ship. These are depth loses that no doubt hurt, but lets be real, Kazakh success or failure will depend on their first two power lines which pending further no-shows looks fine.

All in all I'm super excited that few youngsters will finally get their shot in NT (and eventually Barys in KHL?)

Also, I imagine Barys shockingly finishing last in the KHL East won't go without consequences so depending on what they see as THE problem it will either be good news or bad news for the local prospects.

Regarding the NT, a team that is still way way way too good to get relegated.

Kazkahstan no longer allows double citizenship. If they are finally enforcing that rule, most of the foreign imports will surely leave as well.

"Not allowing" sounds tough but in reality there is tons of grey area in terms of how it's enforced and what kind of people slip through the cracks. Since it's obviously aimed at guarding against the pro-Russian fifth column I can't imagine NA/Swedish imports being impacted by it at all.

If that is true, this isn't that big of a loss. Looking at the lines from last year, they are losing a top 6 C, a top 4 D and 1 or 2 depth forwards.

Teams like Latvia or Slovakia are missing way more than that, not to mention the bigger sides.

Still, Kazakhstan always looks better on paper. Well, maybe other than their goalies, there's nothing good there.

Am I right to assume no more dual nationals are allowed on the roster?
fans have asked for an investigation into the ownership of two passports by Russian players. It was discovered that Russian and other foreign hockey players possess two passports, which is in violation of Kazakhstan's laws. The players should have decided which passport to keep. Gurkov and Nurgaliyev kept their Kazakhstani passports, while the rest of the foreigners kept the passport of the country where they were born and lost the opportunity to represent Kazakhstan.

Based on the friendlies maybe they would have had a chance against Hungary but Slovenia is going to clap them back to 1A...

How did Roman Rotenberg become head coach ? Michkov and Misyul on the third line.

Well, it's good to have a dad who's a billionaire and the best Putin's friend...

Michkov plays with Bardakov and Zykov who were the best scorers in previous games vs Belarus.

Sad that regarding the coaching spot. Hasn't got a clue. 1-0 after two periods of rather desultory hockey. Polyakov with a shot from the low on the right circle.

No discernible pattern of play, setting up. All very scrappy.
