Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but would the Wings have interest in D. Toews from Colorado at the draft? He has 1 year left at $4.1 and is a top pairing defenseman who will likely be looking for something around what Weegar got for his next contract.
He’s a great defenseman and I’d welcome him on the team but using assets on an LHD when Detroit needs a 2nd pairing RHD and scorers more than anything might not be the best idea.

The boys at the Winged Wheel Podcast mentioned Gudas. RD and would add some nastiness to the team.
Can’t deny his physicality and aggression but he kind of sucks. But for the bottom pair? Sure.

Take the Tampa approach. Skill and nastiness on each pair.

Walman - Seider
Edvinsson - Gudas
Chiarot - Mayfield?
I don't like Walman as 1st line and game against AVS showed why. Ether Edvinsson with Seider or get veteran LD for Seider.

Wouldn't mind bringing in a guy like Austin Watson. Bigger, more physical Erne clone, value on the PK, and will stick up for team-mates.

Wishlist so far:

RHD Radko Gudas
F J.T. Compher
F Austin Watson
F Matheiu Olivier

* Home-run trade for Aleksander Barkov * :sarcasm::popcorn:

Seriously though, at some point there could be another trade imo, Red Wings have a lot of Middle six type wingers both signed and in development. Like if we're not gonna give Elmer Soderblom a real shot, he's got value and other teams would trade something for him.

Not a UFA, but Kings fans seem to think Sean Durzi is available and could be had for a good LHD prospect or a couple seconds. Would you trade 2 of our 2nds for Durzi to replace Hronek and his offense? I would make a trade if we could trade one second plus AlJo but I’m not sure that’s enough.

Center depth of Larkin, ROR, Copp, Rasmussen looks nice on paper. You guys will know if Kasper is ready or not a lot more than I will since I don't watch minor league hockey.

I'd love to pick up a top 6 LW and RW, and a top 4 RD. If Edvinsson is ready, call him up. We could add Barbashev for the bottom 6 for added grit.

Backup goalie should be easy enough to find.

I like Durzi, but I think the Wings need a more physical dman.

I would love Watson. I'd overpay for him.

I dont mind a guy like Watson but Id prefer to see us go after a center, Someone who plays mean would be a + for this team.

Jack McBain would be a nice fit imo. 4th in the league in hits, big body, has 11 goals, 22 points. Only downside is he isn't great at faceoffs but in most other ways he would be an excellent 4th liner.

Another option would be Noel Accari. He doesnt bring the size or nastiness of a guy like Watson, but is still 7th in the league in hits. He has a right shot and is excellent at faceoffs. He might be a perfect fit, the only downside is that as a physical right shot center that wins a lot of faceoffs, he will have a lot of suitors. But if we are talking about overpaying for someone, he'd be the guy to do it for.

Id be tempted to get Hathway/Watson and Accari. My only hesitation is we already have 11 forwards signed for next year (including Soderblom) and also need a top 6 C or a top 6 LW (ideally both).

Hathaway on a 2 year deal @1.35M/year (1.45 1st year, 1.25 second year)
Jujar Kihara on a 2 year deal @1.05M/year

Patrick Brown (Doug Brown's son) on a 2 year 2-way deal

Surprised so many are clamouring for Austin Watson.

People need to google what old Austin Watson was up to in the year 2019.

There is 0.0% chance Watson ever plays for Detroit.

definitely need to be in the room with Gudas. He fits the mold that we need to get and has signed a contract with Yzerman before, so that helps.

I have been coming around on signing Compher for depth, but it seems like he would just be the same as Copp. Guess I could be wrong, but two Copps in the circle is great, just need the production. Better linemates obviously helps but still.

I think Copp was doing well with Rasmussen and Perron, so just gotta keep them together I guess.

No. Save those assets.

Edvinsson will grow into the role that Hronek was filling.

Let's do some fun trade speculation.

We need goals. You think Laine could be available for picks? Not sure what Columbus' plans are so I could be totally off here.
He seems super injury prone. The last time he played a full season was 2018-19. If you could buy low he could be a really nice addition to our top 6, my biggest concern is that the cost would be too much for what you would end up getting. His prime would line up with when we start turning the corner so he's a good suggestion, I just have some reservations given his injury history and the likely cost.

I feel like they might want to keep what talent they have. Gaudreau is probably an outlier. But I could be wrong.

I for one am hoping Steve has something surprising in a good way up his sleeve, even if that means trading some picks/prospects to bring in some good young already NHL talent. The UFA class sucks this year, and we are down Bertuzzi and Hronek as far as NHL talent goes for next season. Kasper and Edvinsson are rookies so expecting them to do too much isn't going to make us any better than we are right now.

On paper we are worse off after those two trades as far as current roster, which doesn't have me excited that we will be better next season.

If we're gonna throw stones... I'm not sure you know the whole story yourself, just tid-bits, and assumptions.

Women still with him, and they're happy, with child, and have admittedly gone through some tough stretches, addictions, but what you're suggesting happened, I'm not sure happened the way you think.
