Not sure what people were expecting today, in the end. Blake has criminally mismanaged his cap space over the past few years and consistently overpaid and overcommitted on contracts. We had to fill out a lot of roster spots with very little space.

This season will come down to whether or not PLD tries and whether or not Byfield breaks out.
Given the contracts handed out today to some marginal players, we should probably be thankful Blake mismanaged the cap to ice a top heavy team.

I don’t think the goaltending will be an issue. The forward depth and the loss of the goals of Vilardi, AI and Kupari will need to replaced.

Also, the 4th line is still total crap. Same line Oilers ran over.
I wouldn't type "loss of goals" and "Kupari" in the same sentence.

Zack MacEwen 6'3 205lbs
Alexander Edler 6'4 210lbs
Ramus Kupari 6'2 200lbs
Gabe Vilardi 6'3 215lbs

Pierre-luc Dubois 6'4 214lbs
Trevor Lewis 6'1 200lbs
Andreas Englund 6'3 189lbs
Jordan Spence 5'10 180lbs

This team actually managed to get smaller.

Take out Spence add Clarke 6'2" 190lbs. Which four would you rather have?

Did you forget we also traded away Iafallo and Durzi who were smaller and managed to keep Gavrikov who is 6’3.

Trade out Spence for Clarke and the team stays about the same.

But I agree. Some more physicality is needed

Iafallo and Durzi both play a big mans game compared to Gavrikov/Clarke.

Clarke is pretty chippy. He won’t be channeling his inner ascot Stevens but he’s no shrinking violet either.
We've got problems when we're calling Brandt Clarke chippy.

It's like saying this team has a lot of tough players and naming off Adrian Kempe.

Is he okay?

I dont expect the team to take a step back.

Its going to be a big year for Clarke and I hope he pisses a lot of opposing teams off.
I hope so. But that's a lot to ask & expect for Clarke at his age.
First off, he has to actually be in LA and not Ontario (RB). Secondly, he has to get in the lineup (TM). Third, there is a very short list of 19 yr old D men who come into the league at his age and immediately have huge success (more likely there will be lots of downs in the ups). Forth, he's never played 80+ games in a season and against the biggest/best hockey players in the world.

I know.

But out of the four guys he’s shown promise almost right away; that’s why I feel that way.

I think it will be apparent who is staying in camp, but ideally, Englund is the one sent down. It's a small difference in salary but it will add up by the trade deadline.

That's if everyone is healthy. Guys will get banged up in short order, I'm sure.

They send down the only guy who can fight? Uhhh no.
Giant flaw in the roster.

Tobias Bjornfot should be a regular #6 guy; he deserves it and is capable enough.

Mikey Anderson - Drew Doughty
Vladislav Gavrikov - Matt Roy
Tobias Bjornfot - Brandt Clarke
* Jordan Spence

You send Englund to the A and we literally have the softest team in the league.

Bjornfot is horrible - agree on your second comment. Englund will play with Spence.

The only way the Kings can play a soft bottom pair of Bjornfot-Spence is if they sign a tough forward and rotate him in.
