WC: 2023 Czech Team

Playoff bracket time:

LA vs Edmonton - no Czechs, don't care (well, I care as an Oil fan)
Florida vs Boston - Gudas vs half our World Cup team.lol Gudas has no contract and is UFA so cheer for Florida and Zboril, Pasta, Krejci and Zacha showing up! That would make us a gold contender.
Isles vs Canes - Necas! Go Islanders go.lol
Winnipeg vs LV - Rittich?
Tampa vs TO - Kampf! Go TB!
NYR vs Devils - Chytil vs Vanecek/Palat - I don't think we need Vanecek just yet as we are deep in net potentially... but I'd take Palat or Chytil

Dallas (Faksa) Minnesota and Seatle aren't established yet.. I must be missing a team.

Looking forward to a lot of apologies this week!lol
 
With loss to Utica i think Cleveland is definitely out of playoff race, so Svozil and Jiricek are free!

Rochester also lost and they can still lose that third spot and go to preliminary round, which could give us chance for Kulich and Rousek. But we need them to lose both their last games and also Utica to win their last game.

Rochester is playing Cleveland in both games.

Lets go Devils, personally I would take Chytil over Palat every time this season ...

He did win the golden hokejka a year ago! Definitely a bad season but that was injuries. He's a hell of a player too. I'd be fine with either. Even happier if either played defence.lol
 
2nd match between GER and CZE just started. It's already 0:1. And Horak and Flek are doing some serious steps for WCH final roster 👍

They seem like a great combo for line 4 with some PKing. I was impressed Horak (who has nothing left to prove and has been a great soldier) still wants to represent. I always feel bad when guys llke that get cut. Jordan is another one.. I'm not a fan necessarily but he always tries out, he's always available. Even Kempny (who also gets flack).. he played without a contract once. One of the only ones I can remember doing that. These guys love the Narodak! It's nice.

If I'm being honest.. hoping for an intermission interview with Havlat to let us know who's coming from North America for now!

Hertl, Vrana, Kubalik, Rutta, Simek, Vejmelka, Jiricek, Dostal, Mrazek are all very welcome!

My top 2 lines 😂 yes I'm Kulich fan. Kulda is from my home town 😝
But of course I know there will be Cervenka etc. 👍😝

I hope he gets a look... 3rd line killer. I remember Voracek in 2010 in bottom 6. Same idea here.

Put him with a guy like Smejkal... see what happens.
 
Vitkovice are out, lost to Hradec in 7th match.
Take Stezka, his numbers from play off are absolutely phenomenal (12 GP .... 1,24 GAA .... 95,89% .... 2SO)
And even in national team this season he has very nice stats (3 GP .... 1,52 GAA ... 93,5%)

Nothing shocking here. Hrubec is a surprise to me but not to mirinho!

Yeah that was known, i guess there was like 10% Chance he will go.

As for aditions to the nt pretty meh. Especially Scotka, Zohorna and Sobotka. I dont think they are nt quality anymore, Scotka probably never was. Hrubec also, I mean He Is great, but I want Stezka to be the third goalie.

So do I but something tells me we'll see Hrubec, Langammer and Stezka and leave our NHLers at home.lol

We have about 10 D that Iw ould call a 6 out of 10.. Scotka is one of them! I don't see that much difference between guys like him and Jordan, Mozik, Sklenicka etc. There all just different versions average D. I like all of them but none of them will get us a Gold.

Sobotka or Horak but can't be both! I'm surprised he still wants to represent too! A real soldier and that is admirable. But last time I saw Sobotka I thought he'd be a 4th line PK specialist doing faceoffs.. instead they had him in Top 6 and that ended awfully!!!

On a good note.. we've won every single quarter since that Olympic disaster! That may very well be remembered as the lowest point in Czech hockey before a resurgence.
 
As a big fan of David Pastrňák I hope Bruins will win SC this year. I believe David would accept the invitation to the WCH if Florida kicked them out, but I am also 100 % sure he would prefer Stanley Cup over the World Championship. Olympics/World Cup with full NHL participation would be a different matter, but Stanley Cup is certainly greater achievement for a player than becoming the World Champion.

Imo, Czech hockey fans should cheer for Pasta, Krejci & Co. to win the Cup this year, not to cheer for them to lose only because of WHC. This is a special chance for this Bruins team, and very likely last run for Krejci. Both, Pasta and Krejci, did the work last year at Worlds (and I am saying that as a Flyers fan, already used to seeing Pasta demolish the Flyers :laugh:).

5 Czech players on Stanley Cup winning team? That would be something. Let's see what we can do without them...

Totally agree. If they can pull it off in the NHL... That would be amazing. With impending injuries might even see zboril and Lauko get limited minutes.

Pasta, Krejci and Nosek have always been good in playoffs and clutch. Curious how zacha does... He really hasn't won much anywhere. Silver at a U18 and that is about it.

I agree. I think Nedvěd was more communicative as GM.
I was disappointed when he quit last year. I liked him, because he was very successful in negotiating with our boys from NA.
