Agreed. I think the best way to measure age would be weighted by ice time.

If forward A plays 3 times as much as Forward B, his age should be worth 3 times the amount.
At least the age would be relative to the importance of the player on that team.
Exactly. A couple of 38 year olds playing on the 4th line or 7D on one team, shouldn't skew the overall age the same as a couple of 38 years olds playing 1C and 2C on another team.

I amended the OG post. Hope that's better :sarcasm:

Last year was a 50/50 split for MacDermid.

He played 23 games at defense, the rest (21) were at forward.

I didn't realize MacDermid had played almost 100 minutes at D last season.

Obviously they had one of the best, if not the best RS‘s of all time. But I feel like that was a bit of an anomaly considering the team they had. Obviously they had a very talented roster and some high end pieces, but I feel like that roster wasn’t really as good as their RS was. Contender worth sure, but I don’t know if it’s better than the Avs or Lightning teams that won cups recently.

Obviously in the end a bit of a failure not getting past the first round, but they were setting themselves up for failure with their unsustainable regular season.
To me it was a typical Bruins choke. It was not unseen.

Who could we move out to give Kane 4 to 5m if he wants to play for the Avs? My God... the power play would be unreal

I do remember being pissed Roy retired, and thinking he could have played two more years feeling kinda betrayed about it.

Guess that fker knows when to jump ship. 😆
Me too. If Roy plays they were unstoppable. :/

Girard presumably.

In the world of "pure fantasy that's never gonna happen because we dont have a management team with the balls to even try something like this"

- Girard + Meyers for Laughton + Seeler
- Sign Kane 1x$4M
- Waive MacDermid

Lehky - Mack - Kane
Colton - RyJo - Mikko
Wood - Laughton - Nuke
Cogs - Pavel - LOC
Drouin

Toews - Makar
Byram - Manson
Seeler - Malinski
Johnson

George/Frank

Would be left with $67,500 in LTIR cap space.

No doubt that's a better roster. The Avs are all aboard the Sammy G train though, he won't go anywhere this season.

Move out MacDermid and give that money to Kane because that’s about how much he’s worth these days. Washed.

I feel like every year the Avs are connected to the big name on the market... and every year it doesn't happen. We've become the clickbait.
Add to that where exactly are they getting the cap space to fit him in? Are we supposed to believe he'd take a 2M AAV deal because I don't think that's happening.

Disclaimer... this won't happen... but: send down Dermy, Meyers, and Olofsson to clear 2.5m. Add that to the existing 2m and you can get Kane a 4.5m deal and have to play a cap juggling game all season. You play short one game and get a 'free' emergency call up until an inevitable injury happens. Cap is there for one big contract it would just take sacrifices and a lot of trouble through the year.

Kane will miss a few months isn't he? If he signs only when he comes back, even if it's 4.5M AAV it won't cost that against the cap. Just like the trade deadline.

It gets tricky with prorated contracts and such. It would be better cap wise for him to sign prior to the season, go on LTIR, and then wait until he is fully healthy. That said, he probably wants to see how the season starts... especially with the Rags.

Who would be best to get? Jay O'Brien?
I don't think any of them are sure bet NHLers, but O'Brien, Mastrosimone, Wise, Wall, Stucker, and Brind'Amour are all kinda interesting. O'Brien is probably the top guy left with Farinacci off the table.

Shocked if Butterface the Second doesn't join his dad in Carolina.

You're gonna be shocked because he's currently in the Florida system just on an AHL deal. He can technically be signed by anyone still, but it would be unusual for that to happen.

My guess: Kane will sign with the Sabres, provided they actually take a step and are in a playoff race.
