2023-24 Senators Prospect Watch

They called him insane, because he wanted him benched. I don't think the substance of what he was saying was challenged. I acknowledged in this post.
Definitely leads me to take anything said with a grain of salt if something so ridiculous is brought forward through frustration, no different than I see every gameday thread

Likewise with a lot of the posts in the Yakemchuk thread on the prospects board saying he can't skate and is completely disinterested and doesn't know how to pass and, can't take those at face value either

sure, but no one said he was wrong- people push back against those types takes.

I believe many London fans have said Dickinson had a lot of points where he wasn't even on the ice. He briefly touched the puck, and then his teammates did the rest of the cycle and scored.

Nobody said anything, other than that they were sane posters and the post was insane. Nobody commented anything about what was said.

The only post repsonding to it was:

Are you joking? Scratch Dickinson ? Nope Never. Best offensive defensemen in the league and lights out in overtime

It never brought any comments, not sure it really should have

Funny enough, this guy wasn't the one saying he was the Sane Knights fan

If I or someone else criticize Dickinson for playing an objectively bad game, people lose their sh*t on a Sens board to defend him - hilarious.

There are many times when I watch a game and I know someone played bad or good. I go check board to share in the excitement. Usually my feelings are represented to some extent in the chatter. This time is no different.

The team is really good and they have many players that could turn something out of nothing.

I think Noah Reed could be drafted this year and he is on their 4th line. I would take a flyer on him late in the draft.

Don't worry, this is not directed at you but what about we just let people like and talk about who the heck they want?
I am all for this, but as I have pointed out, it is very odd to see new posts in the SENATORS PROSPECTS thread, click into it, and then just see posts about how great Dickinson played.
It's an entertainment and we supposedly have freedom of speech but this board has become so homeristic it's ridiculous (maybe it is the syndrome of being losers for so long?). You have to love the game first IMO, it's not just about one team.
I appreciate the posts on other prospects as I don't get to stay up on them like I used to, but we should have a separate thread for it, then we can discuss all kinds of prospects, not just the ones we are comparing to our own.

In fact, I will make a thread and see if anyone uses it.

Then it should simply be posted in the Around the NHL thread… it would make more sense actually

grain of salt on that. This is the type of hear say message board nonsense that helps what exactly?. Ridiculous.. "lots of points" lol. He was their best player and play driver on many games through the year. He is going to turn 19 in the summer .. he will have the odd game with hiccups .. but overall he has been good.
Some odd coping. Odd hating from some of us as well but some very strange coping

Is it odd though? Sorry man but I find some of your posts provocative lately!

This is a Sens prospect on the Sens board and many posters are defensive About our guy and are hoping for the best. That seems normal to me.

The two guys in here posting tweets and shit about the other guys that they wanted and arguing against our kid are the odd ones.

It sucks if you have a guy and the team doesn’t choose them, but most fans sort themselves out and move on since their guy is in another organization now.

Most of us want our guy to do well and are happy to look for positives. The other guys are just annoying really. Like, take it to a relevant thread for your other teams prospects circle jerk.

Calgary up 2-1 headed to the 3rd

Yak lost the puck in the slot and couldn’t get back on Lethbridge’s goal. Knew he messed up, slammed his stick into the glass

I said some of “us”. Us includes myself.
I want Yakemchuk to do well as well. But saying. A lot of Dickinsons points happened while he was off the ice lol. Like

Lethbridge tie it 2-2

Yak came all the way over to his partners side on their break in after a dump off and a man was wide open on the other side

Should have played it like a 2 on 1, but it was a bang-bang play at the blue line that happened fast

Yak picks up an assist on the 3-2 go ahead

Calgary “should” win, were up by 2 with 40 seconds left and let one in

It was a tough pass from Wetsch into the skate. I wouldn't put that one entirely on Yakemchuk. He made the right read to jump into the play and if Wetsch gives him a decent pass that's great scoring chance.

Definitely not all on him, though he should have picked it up on his backhand, I’m sure that’s where the frustration came after he couldn’t get back when he slammed his stick into the glass.

He knows he messed up, wasn’t all on him, but he knows he was caught up ice.

It was probably Yak's worst defensive game in the playoffs. He was a little loose with the puck in his own zone and it led to turnovers. However, for the most part, he was solid, especially as the game progressed. As mentioned, he struggled with that odd-man rush. Still, he finished as a plus player.

I felt bad for him on the Wetsch play. All Wetsch needed to do was put it in Yak's wheelhouse with a short, accurate pass. I wish there were extended highlights so people could judge for themselves how much Yak was at fault. I think it must mean people think highly of skill set, expecting him to go skate to stick or backhand to forehand on a not so good pass.

I liked his offensive game, particularly when he jumped into the rush. There was a 2-on-1 where he put the puck over the net from close range. And on the other rush play, even though the play backfired, the opportunity was there for the taking. He didn't overly dangle during the game and actually did a chip and chase play.

It was a strange game, and the score doesn’t reflect how tightly checked it was. Lethbridge scored into their own net when the goalie was pulled.

I have to give credit to a player who will probably never be drafted but is an absolute dog: Adaszynski. I love that guy.

Kindel and Tulk have been struggling a bit. And while Howe was not great in the regular season, his absence is missed, because he was the best of three in the playoffs.

Yager has not had a point in the series and was a -4 last night. I though he was so good at the WJC. I am little shocked at his performance. I just hope he doesn't self-correct and go off next game.

It was interesting to see Mynio paired with Aura on what I consider the third pairing. If Mynio had played on Calgary for the entire year, there would be no way he would of made that WJC team.

And for all you Dickinson gatekeepers, he played pretty well too; his best game of the series.

The pairs were all mixed up last night. Aura didn't play much. Williams played slightly more. There were times where they had Yakemchuk and Mynio together. I don't think the WHL does time on ice, but it felt like Yakemchuk was out there almost every other shift with there season effectively on the line.

He didn't pitch a perfect game, but I liked how much of a presence Yakemchuk was in the game last night. It reminded me of watching him last season, where for better and worse he carried himself like the guy.

I find this coach puts the pairings in a blender a bit in 2nd periods and then he may or may not revert back to the original pairs or start flipping back and fourth to manage ice-time.

D were in a blender all game, they were getting Hurtig out as much as possible in the 3rd.

Yak was on the ice for goals with:
Hurtig
Williams with goalie pulled mid play
Myino

Was on the ice for goals against with
Hurtig
Parker

Was a complete mix-match of guys.

Aura and Williams never played too much.

The end of the game with the goalie pulled they had Hurtig out with Myino and then Hurtig out with Parker. Yak was out with Williams when the goalie was pulled midpoint for Wetsch’s first empty netter (only one he actually scored)

They gave Yak an assist for his block (and pass?) to Wetsch on the first empty netter, so he ends up with a 2 point night. The kid is leading the way at both ends of the ice. Wetsch owed him a point anyway, so it works out well.

Thought it was odd he never picked one up there, it hit his shinpad before Wetsch iced it.

Thought it was odd he picked one up off the faceoff goal, wasn't sure he should have picked one up there, though I'm not complaining.

There was a mistake in the London game as well, though that one wasn't fixed and was a very, very obvious mistake. Lots of stat mistakes in the CHL

I saw the mistake in the London game and it still hasn't been corrected.

I agree on the Wetsch goal too. I felt he blocked the shot and it went directly to Wetsch. I though maybe the scorers felt it was a ricochet rather than a deliberate play, and not worthy of a point, but I went back and checked.

Another couple of things of interest is that Yakemchuk doesn't have a single PP point in these playoffs and he was only a minus in his first game. Also of the 3 goals he was on the ice for, 2 of them were times, I believe, he got paired with RHD Kalem Parker - they are never paired together, just thrown in the mix as a pair during broken line changes.
