The thing with Dubois is that he plays the game slow. He's kind of like Kopi in that sense. I think if he's centering a line with another player who thinks the game slow he'll have success. The problem is, we got a bunch of run and gunners like Fiala and Moore.

Money shouldn't be dictating whether or not somebody gets better linemates. He didn't exactly deserve better linemates prior to his play picking up

That's a fair point, but I don't think that's ever applied to struggling highly paid players. Once bad results start taking precedence in determining coaching decisions then some shit's gonna get mixed up, and more often than not the struggling highly paid player is going to receive that decision in their favor.

Yeah I get it. Me and KP have talked about this extensively when things were going not so good for PL haha. The conversation is moot at this point, because most of us have come to the conclusion that yes of course better linemates would have helped PL before, but, he didn't deserve it and needed to pick up his play himself. It's a dead horse at this point

This wasn't supposed to be my point. My point was, if you're paying PLD or anyone else a ton of money and things aren't going well, at some point you have to give the player better linemates. Is he incapable of producing with Kaliyev, I don't know, maybe he is. And then you put a great goalscorer on his wing and he starts playing better, my response to that is basically 'no shit'

I wasn't trying to single you out regarding Kaliyev. Honestly, I joined the thread late and skipped the past 4 pages, so I don't even know what you're talking about

Anyway, with PLD, he's played with Fiala, Kaliyev, Grundstrom, Laferriere, and now Kempe. At some point, the $8.5 million player should be elevating the play of others, or at least make due with whomever he gets. Because he also gets the softest deployments.
