Agreed. He's been playing better, and so far one of his shifts where he has a good entry has led to a goal. But as you say, it'll take time.

Though some seem to be ready to dump on Kaliyev already (and I agree Kaliyev's play has been underwhelming - I'm more remarking on how quickly people find a new one).

This wasn't supposed to be my point. My point was, if you're paying PLD or anyone else a ton of money and things aren't going well, at some point you have to give the player better linemates. Is he incapable of producing with Kaliyev, I don't know, maybe he is. And then you put a great goalscorer on his wing and he starts playing better, my response to that is basically 'no shit'

This line mixup needed to happen. Koala wanted to keep the top two lines and just slot PLD with Fiala. that was the obvious move (to him).. Danault is a 3C he belongs there. Fiala is a weird player does best on the 3rd line... only thing makes no sense is you'd want a shooter w Fiala not a grinder.

Money shouldn't be dictating whether or not somebody gets better linemates. He didn't exactly deserve better linemates prior to his play picking up
