Disheartening to see our forwards on the Gulls falling behind the points-per-game pace already. Perreault with 3 in 5 and Tracey scoreless in 5. Newer guys like Pasta and Nester are 1 in 3 and 1 in 5, respectively.

Tracey is definitely a bust, too bad
Predictable. It was like drafting a Logan Shaw clone in the first round. Guy doesn’t have any standout tools, and never did. At least if he was big, or fast, or something, maybe there was hope for him to be a bottom 6 guy of some kind.

At least with Perreault, he has at least one NHL level tool that might play at some point.

Henderson tied it at 2 in the second period and just judging by box score watching, the Gulls are getting dominated and bailed out by Clang again. Starting to get moderately concerned by this development

Gulls lose 4-2, 4th straight defeat and it felt deserved. At some point, head coach Boy Wonder has got to figure out a way to generate more offense (which may be impossible, maybe our forward prospects are simply shit)

De Leo being out really sucks, they could really use him. Want to see more production out of Nesterenko, Tracey, Pastujov, Caulfield, and Gaucher as well. Good thing is most of those guys are rookies, hopefully there is simply an adjustment period that they aren't through yet

I had very low expectations for this forward group coming into the season and they have shockingly even disappointed me. The three 1st rounders have combined for 4 points in 17 man games. Three missed opportunities to improve the roster.

This pick was never good imho. On the other hand not many players. When it comes to forwards I have I do not understand our drafting at all. With the #29th we had some interesting options and made the wrong choice (like often)

It was an odd pick, but par for the course with Murray finding late risers. I thought Kaliyev would have been the more obvious choice since he played with Z on the national team. But I can't really question them much since I was hoping for Thrun with the 29th pick. We still got Thrun, but down in the 4th round. We picked up LaCombe at 39th overall. LaCombe is also a late riser, but our scouts are so much better at predicting defensemen. Maybe the team needs different scouts who focus on forward projections beyond the top-10.

Funny thing is we passed on Kaliyev due to his lack of motor, but the very next draft, we draft someone like Kaliyev in Perreault. Both high end shooters who had work ethic problems before the draft.

I still have hope for Tracey b/c we lack offensive forward help.

Hoglander was available as well - that one looks really bad. While Hoglander isn't a great player, he's at least a legit NHLer. Tracey's production at the AHL level is deeply concerning and now he's not even playing games. AHL production at a young age is a strong predictor of NHL viability.

Being benched a game doesn't bother me. If multiple games, then yeah.

Tracey's a passenger/complementary player. Two seasons ago, he had a great AHL season as he was 7th in team scoring with 31 pts in 55 games and was called up to the Show. Last year, it wasn't a great year for him nor the team b/c it lacked a lot of talent. Tracey finished with 28 points in 62 games, but was 6th in team scoring.

This season, he's the only forward without a point and one of two players without a point and a -3 rating. The other player, D Profaca, just got his first game in last night, iirc. Two other forwards who have been his linemates are also struggling: Nesterenko, 6 games, 1 assist, -3 rating; Gaucher, 6 games, 1 assist, -3 rating.

It feels as though the team is lacking overall talent again. After winning the first two games against the Reign over the starting weekend, the Gulls have dropped four in a row. Maybe it's just growing pains with new players and a new HC.

I wonder if Verbeek might seriously consider swapping talent for talent and just getting some semblance of upside in the AHL forward ranks in exchange for one of our other high-end D prospects. He can't be happy with what's going on down there except for maybe Regenda.

I get you wanna give McIlvane some runway, but at some point you just have to cut your dead weight prospects loose and start looking elsewhere for talent.

I'm good with not giving away any of our D right now. Lyubushkin, Gudas, and Fowler won't be part of the far future. Then there's Drysdale being made out of glass business at the moment. What I do want to see is improvement from our prospect D in San Diego. If they improve, then they'll make our forwards look better. Hmmm... Hagg hasn't been with the Gulls since Oct 22nd. During that time, they've gone 0-3.

Plus, De Leo should be returning in a month from his injury. CapFriendly has him listed of an MCL injury on Oct 5 and the estimated time of recovery is 2 months.
