Problem is we are paying 5 mil a year to a guy who needs so much fixing at just about everything . I fully realize he is completely un-tradable but we trade Provo looking to trade Sandheim and somehow blast TDA into outer space .

For this team to improve #1 TDA had to go and it's got nothing to do with anything except his playing style . #2 Risto somehow needs to go bye bye . Both of these players are a net negative and gobbled mins from prospects that can improve and are not being paid millions . Sandheim if fine quit trying to change his game and leave him the F alone .

I can't even begin to tell you how much these last few coaches we have had piss me off . AV and now Tort's egos are F ing this team .

They're stuck with both Risto and Sanheim.
It's not whether either will play up to their contracts, they have cap room and will have more the next few years.

It's whether they can be turned into useful players.

Their skills are complementary, if Risto learns to fill the role of the big physical defensive defenseman, he can cover for Sanheim's lack of physical play in the D-zone, and Sanheim can do the heavy lifting in terms of puck handling and the transition game.

They won't be worth $11+ M, but hopefully they can develop into a passable 2nd pair.

You've told us multiple times how easy it'd be to move Risto, now they are stuck with him?

sanheim is a useful player; overpaid but useful. Still cant believe he got an 8 year deal.

Risto is not a 2nd pair dman on any playoff team. At what point do you accept that this is what he is and there is no more room for improvement?

Chuck was so bad locking them both up long term.

The only way you move Risto (or Sanheim if he agrees) is for both of them to improve where the cost of their contracts becomes more reasonable..
Risto did improve defensively last season, he's not going to drastically improve, but he can build upon that and play a simpler game and be effective within those limitations. And that would make him movable next summer with money retained (3x5 might be too much, 3x3 could have a market with a rising cap).

Sanheim not only has the NTC, but teams will be wary of term, in a couple years, 6x6.25M might have suitors if he bounces back).

What an incredible backpedal. Are you back to considering the trade and signing a mistake? Is Fletcher back up to 1 mistake for you?

That doesn't sound easy to move at all, in fact that sounds quite difficult to move.

As I flicked to watch Sportscentre today I caught the tail end of the previous show....top goals in the CHL.

And what was #1? Portland Winterhawks recreating the Zegras to Milano goal. And then I remembered that we have a coach who hates that goal and would have told them never to try it again.

So f***ing easy to dislike this organization.

Who cares? I'd like to see the current Flyers learn how to make basic offensive plays before we worry about the "Michigan."

The current Flyers don't even work on or encourage that. Do you care yet, or will that be handwaved off as good management and coaching?

The coaching staff propelling this team to being dead last in chance generation on the PP — with a head coach who openly admits to not being able to coach offense and delegating duties — is really unearthing the secrets of basic offense.
