There has been a pretty consistent push to keep young Russian prospects over longer... this is nothing really new. We've already seen it with Goulash and his extension. If he establishes at a top KHL defender, I'd say odds are he will get the Nikishin treatment and be closer to 23-24 when he comes over.

For those that haven't taken in much DU hockey, Behrens has been excellent this season. Out of all the prospects, he's probably having the best season and he's looking like a guy that will contend for a NHL role next season.

Nice Girard replacement after we trade him to re-sign Lindholm.

Makar, Toews, Girard, Behrens, Malinski....That's a pretty small D lineup and yes I know Byram is only 6'0.

Girard is still probably on his way out, just not at the deadline.
I doubt the Avs would trade both Girard and Byram before next season starts.

They wouldn't run all of them. I have doubts that Behrens is even an Avs prospect in April...
I agree especially if they keep Girard over Byram. But that was my point. Keeping all the dmen I cited is unrealistic considering their size.

Yeah my guess is Malinski has made Behrens expendable, and both he and Meyers will probably be moved at the deadline.

Even though Meyers has played better recently, I think he might be the odd man out right now. Wouldn't be surprised if they do him a favor for signing here and move him to Minnesota too.

Watch Meyers suddenly put it together the second he goes to Minny, haha

Are you trying to kill ExTex?!
Meh, if Behrens holds value to a team, I suggest we capitalize on it at the deadline. I actually like all the others quite a bit though.

 You beat me down and forced me to see the light in the mid-late 00s, actually post lock out sealed the deal. The NHL post lockout emphasis skating so much you really can't afford to have a pylon and they certainly aren't going to be effective in today's game like Hatcher was in the 90s.

Only two months between goals! ;)

I'm going to really hate watching his development... I just highly disagree with how the KHL develops offensively tilted defensemen. Not at all a fan of their deployment and usage of him from the games I've seen.

If it somehow works out that he can keep his offensive instincts while taking this time to develop defensively that would be great. Unfortunately, the trend seems to be what you alluded to - stunted growth and a mediocre product

Yeah it would be ideal if it worked out as he will certainly round out his game... I just hate how conservative he's playing. He's at the age where he should be pushing the absolute limit of his skills to see where they are and how to apply them within the game. You see random flashes that show up, but they are just so few and far between right now.

I would like to see him get moved to Torpedo. Larionov seems to be doing well in terms of encouraging his players to develop and work on that skill element.

I've heard or read a few times about speculation that Igor will eventually go to Detroit and coach for Stevie Y, not sure if there is any merit to it or if it's Detroit's writers and fans just wishing but it would be cool to have him back in the league. He's so damn smart, an actual hockey professor if you will.

I'll probably be in the minority... I'm not all that impressed with Larionov's coaching. His WJC team didn't meet expectations. His work in the KHL has a mediocre team in the West who doesn't look like a contender and will be a first or 2nd round exit. Reminds me of Don Granato... guys can breathe easier under him and take some steps, but he's not actually all that good of a coach.

Yeah he definitely went on a large dry spell (1 point in 19 games), but he does have 3 points in his last 4 games averaging about 15min a night.

I’m not sure he’s necessarily turning a corner, but it’s nice to see he’s putting up points again.
