Friday Night Prospect Recap

Mikaël Diotte had a secondary assist on the game winning goal for the Voltigeurs. The Voltigeurs won 1 to 0 in overtime on the road to take a nice 2 - 0 lead in the series. Diotte also was a +1 with 1 shot on goal & 4 hits this game. The next game isn't till Monday. Would be really nice to see Diotte and Dawson Mercer's younger brother win some hardware and punch their ticket to the Memorial Cup.

Anyone have a chance to watch the London-Drummondville game?

Other than the stats, any thoughts on Diotte, Mercer or some of the others like Flyers' draft pick Oliver Bonk?

Mikaël Diotte was a +/- 0 with 1 shot on goal in the Voltigeurs 4 to 3 loss to Saginaw. They were leading the game 2 to 0 & 3 to 2 but managed to still lose. They need to win their next game Tuesday vs Moose Jaw in order for them to be able to play in the Semi Finals. The top team of the 4 team round robin automatically qualifies for the Finals.

Mikaël Diotte and the Voltigeurs Memorial Cup participation is over. The Voltigeurs lost 5 to 3 to the Warriors after giving up the go ahead goal with 1 minute and 30 seconds left in the 3rd period. The Voltigeurs went winless in the tournament round robin going 0-3-0. Diotte was a -3 with 4 shots on goal. He was pointless all tournament and had the worst +/- of every skater on his team in game 1 and game 3.

Very disappointing tournament for Diotte and his team. The QMJHL won the tournament the last 4 years it was played (2020 & 2021 were skipped because of covid).

"According to a report out of Belarus, a New Jersey Devils prospect has confirmed his attendance at development camp this summer.

Daniil Karpovich, a Devils prospect defenseman who hails from Belarus, confirmed to Belarusian media that he will attend the Devils development camp that is set to get underway at the end of June.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been told by a source that the dates for Devils development camp could be June 30th to July 3rd. That means any prospects drafted on the 28th and 29th could head right to Newark.

The Devils prospect defenseman explained in the report that he’s been in touch with a Devils scout throughout the entirety of the 2023-24 season.

“Throughout the season, we constantly kept in touch with the New Jersey scout, calling each other once a week. He watched my games, talked and discussed,” Karpovich explined."

It’s obvious Montreal was the number one prospect pool given who it has as a prospect defenseman.

Some random guy Steve watched more than Orlov/Karpovich/Barabosha

Steve has some moments like he rank Khusnutdinov as a better prospect than Yurov. But still Yurov is second on his list, imagine to work with every team and every prospect. And having lists for every team. They are really close. Huge work.

You can’t really watch every prospect properly to get a fair appraisal of a true NHL prospect list. 3 recent viewings per player. These are fun exercises but I value them as much as Proman or Chris Peters scouting reports of 12 players in the same WJC game.
