Houle and his team will have these guys ready. Houle deserves some respect for how he has not only developed young players but how he has built a winning culture.
Agree. William Trudeau been great without any expectations. RHP become a regular in the NHL. Heineman played well during small sample AHL. Barron and Ylonen were better this year, but NHL is a huge step and some won’t make it. Houle is doing a great job right now I would say.

Hopefully there will be a lot of televised games on Fridays night. Perfect way to end the week.

I have to say, I was a bit worried about the talent turnover initialy (losing guys like Richard, Abbandonato, Schueneman, Dube, Belzile, etc.) but seeing the Laval hopefuls at the Habs camp has made me feel a lot better about it. Seems like we're going to be just fine.

Young guns should be good but the veterans are a clear downgrade from what I've seen.

Richard/Belzile > Andersson/Maillet

Right. But Stephens, Bourque are still around. Gignac is a young vet too. Of course, they don't have the same offensive impact as Richard and Belzile. Too bad they decided to move to other orgs as UFA. $$$ was better, I think for them.

Nah, they just wanted to try a fresh start. Can't blame them at their ages.

In retrospect, they probably wish they stayed near home.

Belzile has one of his new two-season contract with the Rangers garanteed NHL $$$

Bit of both probably.

2023-2024: 775k NHL/450k AHL salary guaranteed 500k
2024-2025: 775k NHL/AHL
Last year he had 750k NHL/250 AHL. No idea what was offered by MTL.

Richard has 775k NHL/450k AHL, guaranteed 475k.
He had 750k NHL/300k AHL guaranteed 375k.

Belzile might get some opportunities with the Rangers as injuries hit, but I think Richard made a bad move NHL wise as Boston have a bunch of kids they probably want to give a few games at the NHL level (Merkulov, Lysell, Lauko).

Eh, it really isn't.

Andersson has produced better than Belzile in the AHL.

Richard did well at over a ppg in the A, but Maillet had 53 points in 66 games in the KHL, which is really impressive.

No idea if that will translate to the AHL, but the years he did play before in the A, he did well.

Worst case it's a slight downgrade, not a clear downgrade. At this point anyways. Always a possibility both are terrible.

Laval is playing their first of two preseason games today @ 2PM ET in Toronto. The game won't be televised or streamed. Not sure if it will even be broadcast on the radio.

So all we'll really go by is the score and stats. Unless there is someone who will be on site to provide analysis as the game is played.
