Europe would be a much better option for him. OHL is just junior league, pro league experience is always better.

I don't think Europe is the better option. He's already played there for two years before being drafted. They already brought him to North America, I don't think it'll help him more going back to Europe again.

If they kept him in Europe last year, then I'd agree. But they already made the decision to bring him over.

I say all this but I wouldn't be opposed if they send him to Europe. But I don't think it's the best option.

Questionable draft pick and then questionable decision to send him to the OHL (Kitchener). Two strikes already against the org.

Mesar was not a reach so your first statement is false. You may prefer other players for the pick, but calling it questionnable is just ignoring reality. This is actually a strike against you.

Your second statement is up to interpretation, but I'm not sure Europe would have been better for his development. His ex-team wasn't exactly great this year. He also would not have gotten used to NA culture.

Really what's the purpose of all these signings? Why do we have all these guys that have no chance of ever playing for us? They seem to be constantly signing guys. Does anyone have an answer?

It's a farm club, they must be able to provide their best players to the NHL club when needed + keep some support for prospects in the AHL. The logjam also creates internal competition and the extra players will get sent to the ECHL (Trois-Rivieres Lions).

After that it's always too much or not enough but with the wealth of the org and the injury record of last 2 years having too many bodies is the good approach.

N.B. a lot of these players have AHL/ECHL only contracts so they can't be recalled to the NHL.

The Rocket has to ice a team too, some will be going to the Lions in the ECHL as well. There was a lots of rookies added this year as well.

Laval signed players on PTOs during the last seasons the last two years to fill-in for injuries and calls-up.

Good Laval team = more tickets sold = more money for Molson&co.

It's just normal, really

Lindgren was the on the taxi squad, not Primeau. Primeau was the starting goalie in Laval that year.

Vrbetic is not in our top 4 pro goalies. I'd even argue he's currently #7. Him being the backup in Laval would be a slap in the face to the team.
I did not say that Vrbetic should get a lot of pucks in the AHL, that's Dobes. It would be ECHL for Joe.

If Primeau plays in Montreal, I see Dobes/Mann in Laval and Vrbetic/Emond in TR.

It's up to interpretation too. Kulich was slotted way ahead of Mesar by scouts. I got the feeling they drafted Mesar mainly because he was a good friend and fellow countryman of Slaf. And "maybe" the OHL team that had his rights was not the best for his development... But it remains to be proven. Maybe, the kid is just not that great.

It is not up to interpretation. He was not a reach. He was picked around where he was ranked.

Kulich being ranked ahead matters only if you want to talk BPA.

With all the injuries the last two years, you can see they wanted to ensure there was depth within the organization. So they won't have to go sign guys to PTOs all year.

Because it wasn't only injuries in Montreal, but Laval had suffered a lot of their own injuries. So couple that with the call ups to replace injuries in Montreal, Laval's line-up for a while was ECHL guys and PTOs.

It will be interesting if Similac shows enough to earn a contract.

I've liked his energy. He plays with pace and is aggressive. I'd like to see him earn an AHL deal. If he needs to start in 3R, it wouldn't be a bad thing.

That is what I expect for Smilanic, an AHL/ECHL deal.

Is Parker-Jones still at the big Camp or with Laval ?

Hey. That's what it was and it is. So, why pick Mesar instead ?

Say WHAT??? Laval is NOT a place to send little babies to ensure they stay safe?

Laval had quite the amount of broken legs, pucks in the face, busted knees these last few years. Also, KK's spleen injury.

They also had a bit of a revamp in their medical staff this off season.
