No word on Gibby?

Ducks are still radio silent on JD?

Does anyone know if Gibby and JD are actually still alive?
I'm sure we'll find out about Gibson today. Either Clang/Stalock will be recalled or he'll be dressed, likely as backup for tonight.

Still nothin' on Drysdale. Hoping for something today since they're back home though.

Brutal for Drysdale. Have to think his development could really be taking a hit.

Also so weird that he went from DTD to no timetable.

Drysdale is beginning to concern me long term. Might just be that he jumped back in too soon after missing a full season and getting into camp late, but 2 different injuries taking him out for stretches like this has me wondering if this is going to be the norm or just a fluke.

It seems unfair, but staying healthy is a skill involving both innate attributes (body type, build, etc.) and learned attributes (strength and flexibility training, play style, etc.). Of course it involves luck as well, but some players struggle with injuries because they're not built to take impact and/or they don't train their body to withstand impact.

Drysdale is a smaller guy who, to his credit, doesn't shy away from shot-blocking or physical aspects of the game. His body might not be wired to handle that kind of punishment. And as it was mentioned above, it's to Verbeek's credit that he played hardball with Drysdale until they can determine whether these are just unlucky incidents or part of the establishment of a pattern.

It sucks for Drysdale, though.

I think somebody mentioned it was a LBI around the time it happened. I guess that’s good since he apparently didn’t re-aggravate his shoulder. Still probably shouldn’t have come back yet, maybe pulled or strained something. Really didn’t have much ramp up time at all for a guy who missed a full calendar year.

With who is coming up, do the Ducks try to trade JD due to being injury prone? Or is his value too low right now?
I think his value is in the tank right now. If the Ducks think the injury bug is going to plague him his entire career, the best thing they could do would be to rehabilitate him, get him into a good chunk of games this year, and then trade him in the offseason. Package a draft pick with him to a team that has a good, young winger they can send back.

Honestly don't see where McGinn fits in the lineup even when he comes back. I guess you could do a straight swap with Jones on LW3 since the former is a useful PKer, but if Max starts to find his game, I'm not touching that 4th line given Johnston has shown me more in his cameo than McGinn ever has. Might just have to bite the bullet and make him a very expensive 13th or 14th forward.

EDIT: And that's before we even get into Killorn, who my dumbass conveniently omitted from this scenario.

Drysdale has had a grand total of 2 injuries (that are completely unrelated), and some of you people think that’s evidence enough to move on or prepare for him to be underwhelming? Terry had a couple injuries early on when he was still getting stronger, and I’m pretty glad we hung onto him.
Considering he’s played in only 11 of the 91 total games the last two seasons, we should absolutely be concerned. He could very turn out a great player, these injuries don’t help his development. It’s unfortunate cause I didn’t see anything his last game and he put up a ton of ice time, maybe he pulled a groin or something.

Rehabilitate Drysdale? I don't think his skill is the problem. I think his availability is the problem. Two instances of bad luck after playing 81 games in his first full NHL season.

It's worrisome. I would love if these were just flukes and Drysdale came back to play hundreds of games for the Ducks. But with the Ducks stable of young defensemen, it makes sense to start thinking about it.

Lindholm had the same injury as Drysdale, the only difference was the time of year when it happened. Yes, missing games is unfortunate, but that doesn’t mean he’s ruined. It should also be stressed that Drysdale looked the best he ever has in the 2 games he played this year just after not playing a game for 11 months.
