Pretty satisfied with the results, 42 first place votes is nothing to slouch at for a defenseman with Faber's playstyle. It was an incredible season that no one can take away.

Remember, the Calder prediction topic here didn’t even have him as a mention, expectations for him were not high in the general sphere.

Maybe relatively.

Matthews won 164-3
Barzal won 160-2
Kaprizov won 99-1

And you could argue that Kaprizov and Robertson was a lot more even - yet Kaprizov blew him out. The fact that Faber got 46 first place votes is a huge win - most second place winners get like 20-25 at most.

Honestly surprised it was that close between Bedard and Faber.

At first look it does seem pretty close when you look at the total points. But when there's no strong 3rd-place contestant, 1st and 2nd will still look fairly close even if 1st wins nearly all 1st place votes. Bedard was first place in over 3 of 4 ballots, so it was a convincing win for him considering the high media hype creation for Faber.
