If he sucked, his name would be Badrow. Since this is not the case, it is obviously the numbers that are wrong.
Same. It gives him a chance to find his game with a ton more minutes, Walman-like. I think he’s a worthy gamble. Not that it's a good idea to put any stock into online rumors from bad sources, but I'd give K'Andre Miller a shot if we could. Send Ferraro + at the Rangers and hope they're not too excited about having to give Miller a 4.6 million QO at the end of the year.

Ferraro + Bystedt or a similar AHLer or 3rd rounder would be all that would probably be acceptable. He's basically a LHD Liljegren and is incredibly overrated on this board for some reason. Once they get another Top-3 pick, Grier needs to stop mainly focusing on reclamation project/bargain hunting in trades. Dobson is not a great fit here but he'd still be a much better target than Miller.Same. It gives him a chance to find his game with a ton more minutes, Walman-like. I think he’s a worthy gamble.
He also really really really feels like a Grier trade. Big, good skater, under performing, young still… it actually always kinda felt right to me.

All depends what they give up really. When it comes to picks/actual prospects, they should be used on guys even bigger than Dobson when they hopefully start getting better. MG continuing to waste time on guys like Miller who are easily draftable is what assures they end up like Buffalo.Oh I agree, I’d much rather have Dobson too. Miller just seems like a pretty good buy-low guy? But no, I’d put Dobson far ahead.
Was about to say something like this. Im pretty confident at this point in MG being patient and waiting for the right guy to become available. Its time to invest in a long term top 4 RHDAll depends what they give up really. Realize that is going to be the Sharks next year, right? $55M on the books. Add Zetterlund for $5M, Kovalenko for $1.5M, and then cheap extensions for Muk/Thompson and that's darn near an entire lineup for under $65M. If we're shipping Couture out, we need to spend a crap ton of money (likely unwisely) to hit the floor.I wonder if the Couture contract could have some value to one of the poverty franchises who will struggle to spend to the impending $80M+ floor.
Your logic is irrefutable. Numbers are bullshit and I refuse to accept them going forward, especially the ones showing the other team has more goals than us. Maybe they do, but we are prettier. If he sucked, his name would be Badrow. Since this is not the case, it is obviously the numbers that are wrong.
$15M isn't really a crapton of money considering the gaping holes in our lineup. Sign a Granlund replacement and a top pair defenseman for $7.5M AAV each and you're there. We should still be taking on cap dumps for picks if possible too.Realize that is going to be the Sharks next year, right? $55M on the books. Teams don't do cap dumps for picks anymore though, right?$15M isn't really a crapton of money considering the gaping holes in our lineup. Sign a Granlund replacement and a top pair defenseman for $7.5M AAV each and you're there. We should still be taking on cap dumps for picks if possible too.
"If possible" and I'm not expecting a 1st or even a 2nd. Hell it might even make sense to give up a pick for an expiring contract like Andrew Copp then retain 50% and flip him for a profit at the deadline.Teams don't do cap dumps for picks anymore though, right?
But only way we're spending that much money with this dog crap UFA class is giving out bad contracts to fringe middle 6 types. Better off keeping Couture and not rushing into bad deals.
I would say it's okay to sign a major FA or two if they can find a forward and a defencemen that can clearly change the dynamics of this team, but are not over 12 mil per year. So maybe it's going to be hard, but I believe MG has a vision.General questions aimed at stimulating conversation.
With the cap dramatically rising over the next few years, the Sharks might be screwed. Teams like TOR, NJD, VGK, FLA, COL etc, who already have their core's locked up and have a lot of flexibility to add top talent. UFAs might be really attracted to joining one of these teams and juicing their chance to win.
Given that the Sharks are in an unadvantageous position w/r/t to contracts on the books, but are in an advantageous position with their owner willing to spend.
So: Should the Sharks make a major (MAJOR) FA signing this summer as a long term play to make themselves an attractive market for winning?

I would say that Sharks having Celebrini will turn more interest in FA market, but I don't know if it will be enough to get a big fish. It's gotta be a player that wants and can help the his line/pair but also gets a boost to his own production when Celebrini has taken the wheel for good. They'll make offers, sure. But given that no elite UFA in his prime with no previous connection to the team has ever signed with the Sharks in franchise history, until that changes (if ever), the question is more about who is willing to sign here versus who the Sharks are willing to sign.
Quinn Hughes in 2027, trust.I would say that Sharks having Celebrini will turn more interest in FA market, but I don't know if it will be enough to get a big fish. But would it be prudent to overpay for a ufa just to insert ourselves in to that "hey we're competing" tier. Dominoes and all thatThey'll make offers, sure.
