Not that it's a good idea to put any stock into online rumors from bad sources, but I'd give K'Andre Miller a shot if we could. Send Ferraro + at the Rangers and hope they're not too excited about having to give Miller a 4.6 million QO at the end of the year.
Same. It gives him a chance to find his game with a ton more minutes, Walman-like. I think he’s a worthy gamble.

He also really really really feels like a Grier trade. Big, good skater, under performing, young still… it actually always kinda felt right to me.

Ferraro + Bystedt or a similar AHLer or 3rd rounder would be all that would probably be acceptable. He's basically a LHD Liljegren and is incredibly overrated on this board for some reason. Once they get another Top-3 pick, Grier needs to stop mainly focusing on reclamation project/bargain hunting in trades. Dobson is not a great fit here but he'd still be a much better target than Miller.

Oh I agree, I’d much rather have Dobson too. Miller just seems like a pretty good buy-low guy? But no, I’d put Dobson far ahead.

All depends what they give up really. When it comes to picks/actual prospects, they should be used on guys even bigger than Dobson when they hopefully start getting better. MG continuing to waste time on guys like Miller who are easily draftable is what assures they end up like Buffalo.

Was about to say something like this. Im pretty confident at this point in MG being patient and waiting for the right guy to become available. Its time to invest in a long term top 4 RHD

I wonder if the Couture contract could have some value to one of the poverty franchises who will struggle to spend to the impending $80M+ floor.
Realize that is going to be the Sharks next year, right? $55M on the books. Add Zetterlund for $5M, Kovalenko for $1.5M, and then cheap extensions for Muk/Thompson and that's darn near an entire lineup for under $65M. If we're shipping Couture out, we need to spend a crap ton of money (likely unwisely) to hit the floor.

If he sucked, his name would be Badrow. Since this is not the case, it is obviously the numbers that are wrong.
Your logic is irrefutable. Numbers are bullshit and I refuse to accept them going forward, especially the ones showing the other team has more goals than us. Maybe they do, but we are prettier.

$15M isn't really a crapton of money considering the gaping holes in our lineup. Sign a Granlund replacement and a top pair defenseman for $7.5M AAV each and you're there. We should still be taking on cap dumps for picks if possible too.

Teams don't do cap dumps for picks anymore though, right?

But only way we're spending that much money with this dog crap UFA class is giving out bad contracts to fringe middle 6 types. Better off keeping Couture and not rushing into bad deals.

"If possible" and I'm not expecting a 1st or even a 2nd. Hell it might even make sense to give up a pick for an expiring contract like Andrew Copp then retain 50% and flip him for a profit at the deadline.

The spending doesn't need to be on UFAs. We've discussed Byram, Miller and Dobson as trade targets and they all need expensive new contracts.
