Yeah he's big but he's also just not that good. I don't see him anywhere close to being the 2nd best defensive prospect after Dickinson now much less after this next draft where they could snag three better defensive prospects.

Danford projects out to be a 3rd pairing defensive defenseman. That's not nothing but I don't think that's a huge need for the team and more valuable than a late 1st this year as I see a few of the defensive prospects on the right side in that range as higher upside than Danford. But in the specific case of Toronto, if we're securing a 1st from them, it's a 2026 1st round pick.

At 24th this year, you could have Blake Fiddler, Charlie Trethewey, and Carter Amico that I wouldn't put in any worse a category as Danford. But again, in Toronto's specific case, we wouldn't be getting a 2025 1st round pick from them. They already traded that to Chicago. We'd be securing the 2026 1st round pick which I find to be more valuable than having Danford and a 2nd.

There is no chance Fiddler is available at 24, Amico is highly risky as he's been injured all year, and Trethewey is in no way shape or form better than Danford.

I can agree with that statement but there's no sense in the Sharks taking anything less until the deadline approaches. If nobody bites, Danford and a 2nd would be an acceptable return even with my reservations on him.

Danford and a 2nd would be a phenomenal return at this point for me. I'm not getting my hopes up and just expecting a 2nd rounder for him.

You're probably right but however it ends up, it's going to be more than what it looked like when we got Granlund in the Karlsson deal. Practically, anything is gaining huge value from when we got him.

Oh absolutely. Granlund is a good player and he'll absolutely help out a playoff team. I'm just not expecting him to be the belle of the ball at the deadline that it looked like he'd be a couple months ago.

I'm only hoping there's enough leverage with Granlund to get a 1st but I'm not expecting it. The market seems a bit thin so I was hoping, like with Blackwood, they'd get a deal they can't pass up on but it probably isn't there and we'll end up taking the best offer at the deadline.

I didn't think Sturm was really very good or would return much (I was expecting a 5th), but I'm getting worried that he just keeps getting hurt and he'll return nothing.

Not a big deal, but he's a common name people list as being traded away.
