The "only reason" is to make the Blackwood trade work.Grier traded for Georgiev fully knowing his issues. The only reason you get him is to tank the team

Speer can't work his magic on a lost cause. Also I see what you're doing here lolYeah, pretty sure the cap doesn’t work for the Avs unless a contract the size of Fourgiev’s is included and it’s not like they want to carry 3 goalies. lol, and I’m pretty sure they were just done with Fivegiev. Part of the extended value the Sharks got was for taking Sixgiev back in return.
I think the initial plan was to give Sevengiev an extended look to see if some value can be recouped at the deadline; but that’s definitely trending towards “not gonna happen”.
I’m pretty sure we’re watching Eightgiev’s NHL career ending. After all just look at how many goals he’s given up over the course of this comment
And apparently he won't allow speer to work on his game as he doesn't need it according to him.Speer can't work his magic on a lost cause. Also I see what you're doing here lol
Granlund has played his way out of an extensionDo you think Sharks should trade Granlund or keep him? I know the team is not going to contend this year or the next but i actually think keeping Granlund and giving him like a 3 or 4 year extension could be good.
Why? Well he can play, almost a PPG again this season. Also he can play with Celebrini, they can switch roles on C and wing anytime.
Also what is the best return for him at the deadline? Is it better than keeping him with Celebrini?
This ofcourse is based on an assumption that he want's to stay in San Jose, which i think he should.
That's my opinion, who do you feel as fans of the team?
Granlund has played his way out of an extension
Of course I'd like the sharks to keep him on a sweetheart deal, but granlund has no big reason to do that and I don't think GMMG wants to do the classic overpay a guy who's on the wrong side of 30 as of he's 25 self-inflicted wound
Acknowledge that it's been a win-win for both sides and wish each other the best of luck on the next step of their careers
I thought Mukhamadullin was a standout again in last night's game. Hopefully he's rounding into form after recovering from his injury and this is the player he is. Liljegren also had a much better night than against Vegas.
If Mukh can keep up this level of play, I wonder if we revisit trading Ferraro and/or Thrun in the offseason.
I'm conflicted on what to do with Ceci. On one hand, his metrics without Walman are truly awful. But on the other, just watching him, I can see why coaches love him. My break point for Ceci is a 2nd round pick; if someone offers a 2nd for him at the deadline, I move him. If we don't get that offer, I would try and re-sign him for two years or so. If we trade him or he doesn't want to re-sign (which is most likely), I think we really need to make a trade over the summer.
I might take Rutta back for a year if he's interested. I think he's been good with Mukh.
Walman-[Trade]
[Prospect]-Liljegren
Mukhamadullin-[Rutta/3rd pairing UFA]
The prospect would be someone like Dickinson or Cagnoni (or Schaefer...). 7th D would be something like Thompson/Thrun/Vlasic.
Bottom line is that we need someone else with a Walman-like impact next season. You can see how much worse the team is when Walman is out.
Who gives a shit about Thompson? He's just replacement-level organizational depth like Thrun. If Rutta can help Mukhamadullin develop on and off the ice I agree that we should keep him. Mukhamadullin and Dickinson are the only defensemen in the org with top 4 potential. We should be prioritizing their development over everyone else's.IDK. I wouldn’t mind Grankund for 2-3 more seasons. Even if he eventually fits as a 3C role more and more at the end. While his point totals have fallen a bit recently, he’s still above water as far as value, and I just think the guys love playing with him and he’s still got a few more seasons in the tank. That being said, if Grier can get a late first, or an early 2nd, for him you have to take it.
I thought Mukh put together a solid game last night too. I’m hoping he’s got just a little bit more than that to give though. I saw a really solid 3rd pairing guy last night. I’d love to see a bit more stout play in his own end, a bit more crispness exiting his zone, and more involvement in the offensive zone from him. Also, whatever Mukh needs to do to add some bulk in the offseason. More muscle yeah, but just an even just a bit of weight would serve him well I think.
I think for Ceci, Grier should gauge his interest in staying with the Sharks, and what kind of contract he’s expecting. If he doesn’t want to stay, or if he wants too much term or money on his next contract I’d move him for whatever at the deadline. Definitely hold out for a 2nd, just based on the available RD this deadline; but push come to shove any assets for Ceci are positive in my book.
For Rutta, I’d prefer Grier just turns the page, though I’d not complain if he signs for one more year. If keeping Rutta in anyway blocks Thompson from getting ice time, I think it’s time to move on. If anything try to move him at the deadline to a contender for whatever he returns, out of respect for a guy who’s had a really solid career considering how hard he had to battle to get to the NHL. If it’s what he wants, I’d hope Grier would find a way to give him another run at a Cup.

I'm still on board with Luca. The offensive potential is huge. Hopefully he gets a short stint on the big club only to see how he looks.Who gives a shit about Thompson? It was a rhetorical question. Thompson isn't good enough to plan roster decisions around.I guess I give a shit about Thompson. If your argument hinges on no one giving a shit about him, as it appears that it does from your framing, does my giving a shit invalidate everything else you just said?
Cagnoni is too small to ever be a top 4 defenseman on a good team.I'm still on board with Luca. The offensive potential is huge. Hopefully he gets a short stint on the big club only to see how he looks.
lol I don't even know what was said but based on this reply I don't think I missed muchI guess I give a shit about Thompson. If your argument hinges on no one giving a shit about him, as it appears that it does from your framing, does my giving a shit invalidate everything else you just said?
I think in this day and age of offense the idea of a smaller yet offensively gifted d-man isn’t as far-fetched as it was say 5 years ago. Just look at Quinn Hughes. It was a rhetorical question. Thompson isn't good enough to plan roster decisions around.

You can't seriously be comparing Cagnoni to Quinn Hughes.I think in this day and age of offense the idea of a smaller yet offensively gifted d-man isn’t as far-fetched as it was say 5 years ago. Just look at Quinn Hughes.
When your only critique is small defensemen can't play at the NHL level, then don't expect anything less then names of defensemen who are small being able to play at the NHL level. You can't seriously be comparing Cagnoni to Quinn Hughes.
There's one name and he's a top 5 skater in the league and drives Vancouver's offense like an elite center. There's no comparison to be made between Hughes and Cagnoni. As a 4th round pick, we should be ecstatic if Cagnoni develops into a 3rd pair PP specialist. When your only critique is small defensemen can't play at the NHL level, then don't expect anything less then names of defensemen who are small being able to play at the NHL level.
And there is nobody that is expecting cagnoni to even at his best be a norris winner, but whenever he is suggested for a potential tryout on the nhl club you go directly into he is to small he can't have an nhl career. There's one name and he's a top 5 skater in the league and drives Vancouver's offense like an elite center. No. I’m saying being a small d-man isn’t the death sentence it used to be. Frankly if you’re under 6 feet it’s all relative. You can't seriously be comparing Cagnoni to Quinn Hughes.
Which is all I was saying in the first place. He doesn't have top 4 potential. And there is nobody that is expecting cagnoni to even at his best be a norris winner, but whenever he is suggested for a potential tryout on the nhl club you go directly into he is to small he can't have an nhl career.
Not sure what interview that comment came from, but here's an interview where he talks about some things that he and Speer have discussed. And apparently he won't allow speer to work on his game as he doesn't need it according to him.
Yeah I think it may come down to whether GMMG thinks he can fill the void with a cheaper option or notIDK. I wouldn’t mind Grankund for 2-3 more seasons. I’d look at perhaps signing Fabbro in the offseason. Lol. I know there’s been some advocates here for him, and I didn’t really get it; but yeah his results in Columbus are pretty great so far and totally fits with the scouting reports his advocates here have been giving. Turns out we have some smart people on this here HFBoards, who’d have guessed?
Trotz is looking like an absolute dud as a GM.
I wouldn't use standout for any of our defensemen last night, but I would say Mukhamadullin was solid. The longer I watch Liljegren, the less enthused I am about him being with the team past the end of his current deal. I'd like to push him down to a bottom pairing next year if possible.I thought Mukhamadullin was a standout again in last night's game. Hopefully he's rounding into form after recovering from his injury and this is the player he is. Liljegren also had a much better night than against Vegas.

I move Ceci and Rutta both for whatever the best deal is we can get for them. If we can't get something in return for Rutta, then he can play out the rest of the season. Otherwise, I call up Thompson for the rest of the season, play someone on their offside and just get through the last month.I'm conflicted on what to do with Ceci. On one hand, his metrics without Walman are truly awful. But on the other, just watching him, I can see why coaches love him. I personally don't see much difference between Thompson and Liljegren. Liljegren gives you the hope that there's some offense to unlock there without it ever actually materializing, while Thompson gives you no offensive upside, but seems more trustworthy playing defense.I guess I give a shit about Thompson. If your argument hinges on no one giving a shit about him, as it appears that it does from your framing, does my giving a shit invalidate everything else you just said?
