I know we love to pick on Kunin but he’s been pretty good the last little bit. He’s starting to put pucks in the net whereas I feel like Goodrow has sorta fallen off.
Goodrow was never doing so good that he had some higher place to fall off from. But inasmuch as I'm loathe to give him much credit for anything, he's also just recently back from injury and maybe it will take a little time for him to ramp up to the previously unremarkable standard I am accustomed to. Certainly seems to be true for Granlund, who actually was playing well before.

Fowler & a 4th to STL for a 2027 2nd. Going rate for #4 dmen.

Stay tuned for Ceci, Borgen, Petersen, Ferraro, Mattheson, and Ristolsinen.

Provorov and if moved, Andersson (and maybe Connor Murphy) are your 1st round guys.

Also, with this move and recent play, Anaheim is well on their way to a top 4 lotto slot, along with SJ, Nash, and Chicago. Got to think one of Buffalo, Detroit, CBJ, or Pitt will be separated from the pack as well.

1) Anaheim retained on Fowler
2) Fowler's contract is through next season, which for contending teams is generally going to be a negative
3) A 2027 2nd is like a 2025 3rd!

My guess? Ceci returns a 3rd. Rutta probably gets nothing. Thrun might go for a 4th, to another team willing to give him an opportunity.

I actually think Anaheim will be better without Fowler. Mostly when I see Ducks fans whining about their veterans being the reason the team sucks, I laugh, because when I watch, I tend to be more impressed by the vets than the kids. The kids not taking the next step is why Anaheim is bad right now. But Fowler is the exception. He's truly awful.

Did you know that Pavel Mintyukov has been a healthy scratch recently? Wild.

Rangers getting pumped again. How do we get Chris Kreider?

I think he'd be the perfect short term LW for either Mack or Will's line and would make it a lot easier to trade Granlund too.

Contract expires alongside the ELCs. No idea what we'd need to give up though.

After taking Goodrow for free, You'd think the price would be moderately doable.

Other teams will be after Kreider which could drive up the price a bit but not many contenders can take his full contract without sending money back or asking the Rangers to retain. I could see Colorado doing it if they put Landeskog on LTIR.

Considering his cost, value wise and cap wise, Colorado may be better off finding an upgrade at 2C. Mittelstadt is having a rough season and is a -16. I know +- isn't much, but it's telling when he's the worst forward in that department by a whopping -10. Bump him to 3C and bringing in, I dunno, Granlund for the 2nd line.

If we could land Kreider for 2nd+Thrun or something that would basically sort out next year's forward group even if we trade every pending UFA:

Eklund-Celebrini-Toffoli
Kreider-Smith-Zetterlund
Kovalenko-Wennberg-Graf/UFA
Grundstrom-Goodrow-Dellandrea

Obviously Goodrow was the key and instrumental to the Rangers success. Drury would be a fool to not beg Grier to bring Barclay back. Send Goodrow back to the Rangers for a haul, he obviously prefers to be there compared to here (....ignore them forcing him on waivers)

Obviously I am joking but it's kind of funny that this has happened to them and Goodrow was known to be a leader/locker room guy there. But hey I can dream and wouldn't be opposed to giving them Goodrow back for future considerations, I'm sure the kids have learned enough from Goodrow this season

Want to make sure Kunin wins the Rocket Richard.

Also, much as I kvetch about the Sharks not prioritizing developing Smith, rewarding Kunin for his recent improved play probably not the worst thing in the world.
It’s not. I hope it ups his trade value. He’s earned more ice time. I just wish they took Smith’s development more seriously when it comes to getting him to make more of a consistent impact. He’s only ever really looked good on Celebrini or Granlund’s wing.

I certainly don't mind the message that coaching/management seem to be sending to the players. If you buy-in, put in effort, and produce, we're going to reward you with more opportunity. This should be a message that resonates with every player from the top to the bottom of the lineup.

Athletic did an article on potential trade targets for each team. They have Granlund as Dallas’ target and the projected price is a 2nd + 4th. Didn’t have a trade target for the Sharks, just that we would sign Ehlers as a FA haha.
Thanks for sharing. Unless Granny is like Blackwood and wants to hit the free market, I'm not sure 2+4 is worth it especially from a team like DAL vs trying to re-sign him for 2-3 year term.

If we're only going to get a 2nd in return for Granlund, I'd rather it be a 2nd and a player rather than 2nd and a lottery ticket. But Granlund also has to get back to playing better.

I keep Granlund at that price and re-sign him. It's reasonable to assume he is enjoying his time with the team so I don't think it would be an issue that he wouldn't.

Food for thought:

Would you be in favor of a deal centered around Musty for Cozens?

Similar skill set and frame but Cozens being NHL ready for Mack or Big Willy. He's in year 2 of a year @ $7.1 per. Had a very productive 22-23 season but had dipped since. A move to wing with either of our boys could reignite his production.

What Buffalo gets is a mulligan and a local kid who could develop into an improvement over Cozens. Might need to include a sweetener or two.

I doubt that the Sharks and Sabres are a good match trading wise. Last thing they need is more young non-stars to wait around on to develop.

If the Sharks had that top pair right side D already then yeah, would be worth a look by the org. Not in the team's current state.
