If Couture recovers from his injury and could be in normal form he would be fine on Celebrinis wing, but we just cant count on that and I would like the sharks to go and get a winger who can score atleast like 50 points.

If we’re calling Eklund and Zetterlund our top wingers, I’d prefer that, at least to start, that those guys play with Granlund. Firstly, the finished the season with a lot of chemistry and I’d like to see if they can continue that. Also, like, you don’t just give a teen driver the keys to the sports car right out the gates. They gotta demonstrate that they can successfully lie about how they drive the Honda Accord responsibly before they get the keys to the Porsche.

I just worry what happens when you staple Will Smith to Goodrow and Kunin and watch the entire line sink from no fault of Smiths.

You need to give him a chance to succeed atleast

Well, I’m a big believer that Grier needs to add at least one solid middle 6 scoring winger if couture can go; and two if not.

Something like:

Eklund - Granlund - Zetterlund
Couture - Celebrini - Middle 6 Winger
Kostin - Smith - Delandrea / Bordeleau
Goodrow - Sturm - Kunin / Delandrea

I’m all for Wenneberg as long as he’s thrown to the wolves to shelter Smith and Celebrini. He’d be a nice 3C to hopefully transition to Edstrom or Bystedt.

Toffoli would be interesting as a scorer too. He’s so slow though.

As for D, Matt Roy ain’t happening, but I think he’d be great for the young up and coming left D. Walker will get too much interest. I’d like him as a two way number 4. Maybe take a flier on Colin Miller.
Toffoli is slow AF but he's so smart and such a great sniper that I could see him aging well.

We'd probably have to offer something around the Killorn contract (6.25Mx4) to land him though. Probably worth it.

If we're making predictions, I think we go after Marchessault or Perron.

For the record, I f***ing hate both of those guys (as players, from an opposing fan's perspective) but I will hate them less if they're on our side.

I wouldn’t be mad at adding Marchessault. I don’t see him signing with us but I guess it’s a long shot. Guys like him want to be playing for a contender every year. He’s been spoiled.

Marchessault would be awesome. So would Toffoli. I'd get pretty sick if they signed Dumba or Pacioretty though.

Obviously neither of them probably want to come here but throwing money at Zadorov and Stamkos should be the priority.

Tomorrow is a very critical day. To make a real impact, I believe Grier will have to overpay in FA to attract quality players. I’m fine as long as it helps to keep the term short. There’s also the trade route and waiver route, too.

Personally, I’d like to see Grier add at least three to four real players tomorrow:
- A solid top 6 vet wing to play with Macklin
- A real top 4 RD
- A PP RD specialist
- And potentially an upgrade at 3C/fail safe if there’s concern internally about Couture’s status

FAs:
(In no particular order)
-Stamkos (Highly doubtfu, still $10-12m per/2-3 years)
-Marchessault (I’m disgusted with myself for even writing this, yet here we are. $7m per/3 years)
-S. Walker ($5m per/3 years)
-Teravainen ($6m per/3 years)
-Tarasenko ($6m per/2 years)
-Henrique ($5m per/2 years)
-Barrie ($2m per/1 year)

I’d list Carrier who is a great fit but it sounds like he’s re-signing in NSH.

Waivers:
Boqvist ($2.6m/1 year)

Via trade:
(In no particular order)
-Ehlers (Could be a great trial fit on Celebrini’s wing. $6m/1 year)
-Ekblad ($7.5m/1 year)
-Kakko ($2.4m/1 year)
-Trouba ($8m per/2 years)
-JGP ($5m per/2 years)

Realistically, one of Ehlers/Marchessault/Teravainen/Tarasenko to play top 6 wing AND Henrique as a solid vet 3C that is a good fall back for Couture and/or injuries.

Then both of Walker and Boqvist to round out the D corps.

Eklund-Granlund-Zetterlund
Couture/?-Celebrini-FA/trade
Kostin-Couture/Henrique-W. Smith
Goodrow-Sturm-Kunin
Grundström-Afanasyev-Dellandrea

Walman-Walker
Ferraro-Emberson
Thrun-Boqvist
Vlasic-Benning/Rutta

Grier would hopefully move out Ferraro, one of Benning/Rutta, and maybe Kostin to clear up some of the log jam.

March is perfect. Sc winner, conn smythe winner. 40 goal scorer. Pesky. Physical. Tough.

Perfect wing for smith or celly. And a perfect mentor.

FAs:
(In no particular order)
-Stamkos (Highly doubtfu, still $10-12m per/2-3 years) - Stamkos is 34 years old and has already shown signs of decline. Nobody in their right mind is going to offer 8 figures for him, let alone near-McDavid money, no matter what the term is.
-Marchessault (I’m disgusted with myself for even writing this, yet here we are. $7m per/3 years) - 7x3 is fair but I still don't want this guy anywhere near our team.
-S. Walker ($5m per/3 years) - who? Scott Walker retired in 2010.
-Teravainen ($6m per/3 years) - Teravainen is a one dimensional fringe 3rd liner, heavy overpayment.
-Tarasenko ($6m per/2 years) - Tarasenko has been in a hard decline for several years now. Patrick Kane is better and just got 4x1.
-Henrique ($5m per/2 years) - Henrique is 34 and was one of the worst contracts in the league at 5.25M
-Barrie ($2m per/1 year) - meh.
