I think this season should/could be judge with two different point of views = with Celebrini and without Celebrini.

With Celebrini
I will expect for the Sharks to perform a lot more confident offensively and challenge for a win. Without Celebrini I will be happy to just see more respectful hockey.
I know It's a lot to put on a 18-year old superstar, but I feel like he was build in a way to put the team on his back if needed and can thrive under pressure. Sharks has never had this kind of a superstar from the start.

You could argue that there is a third option if injuries hit this team hard and team loses a lot of depth with or without Celebrini.

According to Friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast, Avs have looked into Blackwood. I’d like to keep Askarov in the AHL to get 25-30 starts in the first 60% of the season, but I do think Blackwood will be a top option for desperate teams, and there’s already a couple.
Georgiev is terrible to start the year so makes sense. I wonder if we do something like Georgiev+2nd or Behrens. Georgiev’s contract is up after this season so could be an interesting candidate to see he can relive up to his potential.

Pretty much exactly what it would take for me to move him out sooner. I’d actually like to Georgiev as backup to slow Askarov having to play behind this defense.

I just don’t think it makes sense from Colorado. My thinking is they’ll want to see if Kahkonen can take the reigns (still dealing with customs last I heard)

It depends on if the Avs are done with Georgiev. If they are, they'll probably want someone better than Annunen to be their #2.

If Georgiev has to come back our way I'd be asking for a 1st. Blackwood should get us his 2nd on his own, but if they want an upgrade PLUS cap space that's what it's gotta cost.
How about the Grier special. Instead of a 2nd it’s a 3rd to upgrade to a 1st.

Blackwood + 3rd for Georgiev +1st

Even better make it 2027 unprotected and then when the wheels fall of in Colorado we can grab Dupont.

I'd be happy with a 2nd for swapping Blackwood and Georgiev. When Askarov is ready it'll be easy enough to waive Georgiev.
I agree. I actually think Blackwood deserves a chance to play with a contender. He’s earned it with what he’s endured the last year and a bit and I would like to see how he would look on a good team.

He has one year left. Both of them do.
The cap space is a prorated 1 mil and change. That isn't going to be worth a 1st. It's worth a 2nd. My problem is that we don't really open a roster spot for Askarov doing this deal and a 2nd from Colorado isn't some premium asset. I'd probably prefer to rent Blackwood somewhere for a 3rd that isn't going to ask us to take a goalie back if it's out there.

Would the Sharks be interested in a player like Girard?
Might make our blue line immediately better despite his struggles, but probably wouldn't be enough in a straight-up trade + Georgie for Blackwood. Still likely to include a pick swap.

Who would be sending out the higher pick? I'm not sure what Girard's value is around the league at this point but I'd take him on the Sharks for sure.

Depends on how badly they want Blackwood, I guess. I'm no expert on trade value, but my gut was Girard + Georgiev + 3rd = Blackwood + 5th or something... or as others have said, Georgiev + 1st or 2nd = Blackwood + 3rd or 4th. I guess depending on how much the cap space is worth to the Avs, maybe we actually get all the picks rather than a pick exchange, because Girard is paid $5M right now and is not doing great, as far as I understand, and Georgiev is $3.4MM cap hit.

Girard is essentially a far better version of Calen Addison, probably better than our Jack Thompson, and probably Cagnoni's ceiling in 3-5 years. from last year:

I was thinking something like Blackwood+Thrun+EDM's 2025 3rd for Georgiev+Girard+COL's 2025 2nd but maybe we don't need to send them the 3rd? Not sure if the Avs have any use for Thrun but their left side depth chart looks dicey without Byram and Girard.

And yeah, Girard would be a nice stop gap to provide some puck moving on the blueline with a contract that expires alongside Celebrini/Smith's ELCs. Celebrini and Lane Hutson had such a special two-man game playing off each other at BU and I wonder if he and Girard could develop similar chemistry.

Unless we're moving Ferraro or Walman in the process, I don't think we'd have interest in Girard.
I'd be on board with moving Ferraro in a Girard deal, but I'd also want something else coming back in return that isn't a worse goalie than Blackwood or a bottom 6 forward. We don't need more of either of those things. Ideally, I'd like to bring back more defensemen than we give up in a Blackwood trade, but I don't know how many teams out there that would consider Blackwood an upgrade. Probably would end up being a pick if it was a deal with Colorado.

So Sharks fans have some interested in Girard and would be willing to do something around Georgiev for Blackwood? Seems like a trade could be made here depending on what Sharks fans view of Girard is. I personally think he’s a solid second pair defenseman and wouldn’t view him as a negative value player (although not substantially positive either).

Girard+Georgiev for Blackwood+ ‘x’ seems like a reasonable starting point.

I think given the situation on our left side as others have pointed out, and the cap hits of both your players, I now think it would have to be Girard + georgiev + X for Blackwood, and the X might be a pick on both sides but the better pick is going to SJ. or if we are sending a LD back, okay, but then the pick/differential to SJ probably needs to be bigger. Girard isn't necessarily a target, I forgot he isn't RD. We're all hoping Mukh develops into a middle pair two way D and we aren't so desperate as to need even a minor upgrade unless it benefits us in other ways.

I mean let’s be honest, who cares about Georgiev or even Vanecek? If we end up saying okay Askarov is ready! We waive one or we see if there’s another trade out there for one. Who cares?

Would the Sharks be interested in a player like Girard?
As a huge fan of Girard, not in the slightest unless he’s coming as a pure cap dump and that makes no sense for COL.

Let me clarify here a bit cause I feel like this is going to bite me in the butt quickly. Girard is a great player and likely a second pair(ish) dman in the same way Walman is a second pair(ish) dman. Issue is he’s a lefty which is where our only two young NHL ready dmen (Mukhammadullin and Thrun) play also he’s small and not great defensively. Yes he has played his off side but not really successfully from what I remember. Basically all this said he’s a good player but just not what we need at this moment.
