Speculation: 2023-24-25-26 Sharks Roster Discussion

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Xenforo Cloud is upgrading us to version 2.3.11 on Monday July 20, 2026 at 12:00 AM PST. Expect a temporary downtime during this process. More info here
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
It kinda seems like so few teams are in clear rebuilds that might allow good D to hit the market for the sharks. Vancouver might be the only one.

The rangers loaded up with Dorofyev. Seattle tried to land Robertson. Hell, even chicago just dealt their 4th OA pick, something a team that saw themselves as rebuilding and not PO contending would never do.

Trade market is gunna be tough if you ar the sharks and you dont want to give up high end current NHLers.

From Elliotte Friedman's thoughts and predictions that are Sharks related:

Darnell Nurse: Pittsburgh wanted Edmonton to take back a contract. The Oilers didn’t like whatever was presented to them. Philadelphia’s had a challenge putting all of the different pieces together in and out. Boston’s shown interest, but that’s also about what has to go out to make it work. I believe the Sharks are very interested, but Nurse remains east-focused as I write this.

Mason Marchment: There was a lot of interest. Montreal, I think Toronto. Someone made a great point that a sentimental favourite might be San Jose, longtime NHL home of his late father Bryan. The two were extremely close.

The defencemen: San Jose. Sharks need D. Ian Cole? Jamie Oleksiak? Jacob Trouba?

Rasmus Andersson: He’s staying.

Ryan Shea: Had a really good year. Heard Lightning really liked him. But they also have their eyes on Werenski and John Carlson, if he doesnt sign in Carolina. Good player.

Nurse wants to go east, good. f*** Nurse. Don't want.

Marchment, yes please. Would give us depth and consolidate the top 9. It would allow us to absorb a trade or injury and I like the player.

Cole, no. Oleksiak, maybe. Trouba, yes.

Andersson, don't want. Let Vegas overpay him.

Shea, low key really good pick up. Could be Raddish light. Good player, agreed.

Hedman definitely seems like an interesting target too. Had injuries, mental health challenges. He's already 35, with 3 more years. Not sure tampa would have him on the market (along with hit NTC), but he'd be another one that fits our need and timeline.

I'd offer a similar package as Morrissey. Anything based around Cagnoni+Bystedt+1st.

Shea would be great, but I worry he'll want (and get) max term and $$. If some team offers him 6 or 7 years, I dont think grier will bite. But, 3 x 7M or something like that is in line with grier's timeline and would be a low risk-high reward play. I defintiely wouldnt mind that signing...

Oh he'll try and cash in. No question. But he's under the radar, and good. He'll be cheaper than you think hut want term.

Present your tweet. I must gaze upon this new rumor!
It's at the end of the Friedman article:

Offer sheets: Last year, the Hurricanes threatened the Oilers (who signed Evan Bouchard) and the Rangers (who acquiesced and traded them K’Andre Miller). I think they’re considering doing it again. I have a theory, but I’m too chicken to say it. I also believe Seattle is considering it, as they basically created an offer-sheet trade for Jason Robertson, if he’d taken their cash. I also believe Mavrik Bourque is another potential target. I don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up, but there’s lots of noise out there.

Here's a fun idea: any chance we can pry Otto Stenberg out of STL? They have 13F for next year (if you include Mcmichael). Price shouldn't be very high.

Ivar might like having his bro around?

It has to be Carlsson right? Anaheim is a poverty franchise that won’t spend to the new ceiling. Gauthier scored more goals and points than Carlsson so if they match a 15M AAV offer sheet for Leo they’ll have to pay Cutter just as much and somehow find the room to sign an entire defense afterwards. There’s a chance they just take the 1sts and try to build around Gauthier, Sennecke and McQueen instead.

No. I’m tired of this nepotism crap. “Mack and Will are BFFs”, “Fabian and Eklund are BFFs”, “let’s get Collin’s brother here”

I actually think it’s Cutter at an egregious overpay to really force their hand.

With Wennberg and Ostapchuk signed, it kind of makes me wonder if Bystedt is moved. Wouldn't oppose a move for a defender. I have no idea about Bystedts perceived value, though.

The FA class seems so boring I hope there's some trade and offer sheet action.

Oh man, Carlsson to CAR would be historic and would absolutely nuke the Ducks rebuild. That is an insane theory. I can't believe it would happen but if it did... Wow. It does make sense for CAR but you have to think ANA just matches.
They probably match anything but it'd be really exciting.
