Which doesn't make any sense. Malhotra, Stenberg and Bjorck are all better prospects. Even among defensemen Carels and Verhoeff are significantly younger than Reid and had better draft seasons than he did. Reid is being massively overrated due to the perception that the Sharks need a right handed PPQB.
He was rated the top defensive prospect before the sharks had the #2 pick. But continue to be the loudest guy on prospects who doesn't actually watch the prospects lol.

nah, they aren't

They had better draft seasons than Schaefer did last year too. It's almost like there are other things to watch for that stats.

A @coooldude hot take.... this is all MacKinnon's fault.

No they didn't.
They kinda did since Schaefer was injured his draft year and scored a massive 22 points in 17 games. It's almost like folks saw something other than stat counting

Chase Ried was also injured this year, missed time and came back not 100% , yet got overwhelming amounts of votes from coaches, scouts and analysts for being the best offensive defenseman and 2nd best defensive defenseman. And yeah, the OHL was actually the tougher defensive league this year than the WHL, which has been remodeling away from shutdown defense to active high tempo offensive style for quite some time

They actually didn't because 22 points in 17 games is a higher points per game rate than any of the defensemen in this draft plus Schaefer is only like 3 months older than Reid. When you take age into consideration their draft seasons are not even comparable.

Hockey fans are so unbelievably entitled.

If you live in a dump like Ottawa or Winnipeg or Buffalo or Calgary you should be grateful to have a professional sports team to cheer for at all.

To then demand that elite professional athletes be indefinitely held hostage in those towns is just arrogant and delusional.

Points per game over a smaller sample size isn't reliable, nor is your asinine opinion considering you barely watch prospects and just form opinions on the fly based on stats and height and whatever you read last that falls into your narrative lol

As a Canucks fan, at this point, our needs are everything. Trading Willander to plug another hole doesn't make much sense.
Much like trading Misa to solve our defense problems doesn't make sense, but that doesn't stop vultures from other fanbases coming in with trade proposals all the time, most of which don't even solve our problems.

Agreed that trading Willander doesn't make much sense for a team like the Canucks if they think he's gonna be good. Hronek maybe somewhere down the line, but he's cost controlled and still relatively young, so the haul would have to be worth it for Vancouver to bite.

They may be better. You don’t know, either do I. I massively overrate Reid because he has accomplished so much in limited time. Watching him step up in World Juniors only verified that he rises above when given the opportunity. This is why he’s thought of so highly. They believe in what he will do not what he’s done. I believe the same.

Yah id trade hronek, but im a guy who thinks vancouver should be in full rebuild for a few years.

I’ll cosign Winnipeg, Ottawa and Edmonton slander, but not too much on Calgary. Genuinely an awesome city to live in. Accessibility to nature, hiking and the mountains for skiing. Extremely clean city with lots of activities, and in the summer Vancouver is about half a days drive away so you can visit beaches and swim in the Pacific Ocean.

Cons: subpar nightlife scene and the diversity of concert selection is significantly weaker than places like Montreal or London.
