But you don't, this statement is antithetical to winning in the modern NHL. In a perfect world you'd want to run 4 lines of skilled two-way players with high-compete like Florida, Carolina, or Vegas do, sure in this perfect world you'd want some of them to be 6'4.This is by far the most overused quote on this message board and it drives me absolutely insane.
He was simply suggesting that you need a variety of player types to build a team. Of COURSE Grier would take a team full of Celebrinis.
If they go long term I'd assume it's something around that cap figureWhats graf getting?

I think it would be silly to take that quip as anything more than a bland platitude. But you don't, this statement is antithetical to winning in the modern NHL. If they draft D at 2 then I agree, but it depends on price and how he performs under this bridge. He may ultimately price himself out of our flexibility, and at the same time, he may be an incredibly valuable trade commodity if 2OA D doesn't pan out (or even if he does and we still need D help badly). If they go long term I'd assume it's something around that cap figure
I fear they bridge him to keep the cap hit down and it looks like the Eklund contract ($5.6Mx3), which I think means he gets traded before he signs a 3rd deal with the Sharks
I'd much rather commit to him long term, he's a very useful and versatile player

I would say teams explicitly need different players. Obviously if you could have 9 Mcdavids that's a different story, but most winning teams have scorers, two way guys, passers, hitters and other styles on top of it.We have Will Smith and we have Graf and we have Chernyshov and we have Wennberg. All four players can be on a winning playoff team, all four players player different styles.
Or you can just be Vegas and get 12 two-way players.I would say teams explicitly need different players. Obviously if you could have 9 Mcdavids that's a different story, but most winning teams have scorers, two way guys, passers, hitters and other styles on top of it.
I would say Vegas has a lot of guys that are decent in their own zone, but not all of them are full two way guys.Or you can just be Vegas and get 12 two-way players.
I'd say out of their top 9, the only one who isn't is Dorofeyev, and he's an elite goal scorer.I would say Vegas has a lot of guys that are decent in their own zone, but not all of them are full two way guys.
Guessing most folks here will say he's not untouchable but a package around Edvinsson isn't enough. Maybe Seider, but that isn't happening unless he asks out too. I know he doesn't have trade protection yet but he's not just getting traded unless Yzerman is getting fired for a full teardown, and even so might still be able to keep Seider.Red Wings fan coming in peace.
Trying to get a sense of which of these two categories Sharks fans view Misa:
* Untouchable under any and all circumstances. You could offer the equivalent of ten first rounders and we would still have no interest.
* Insanely valuable, but with enough of an overpayment to fill team needs, it might be doable.
Obviously Detroit is in a rough spot, stalling out in their rebuild even before Larkin asked to be traded. And I'm not naive enough to think that you would want Larkin at any significant cost, let alone Misa. But I recently put together multiple aggressive trade ideas for this summer to try to get the Wings back on track for long term success, and here's what I guessed at for trading with the Sharks:
* San Jose gets Simon Edvinsson extended (estimated $9M AAV) and Alex Debrincat.
* Detroit gets Michael Misa, Logan Couture (cap dump to help make the money work), Barclay Goodrow (cap dump), and 20th overall in the 2026 draft.
Again, I understand if you're simply not interested in dealing a dynamic young center. But a good young defenseman to anchor your blue line and a 40 goal scorer for Celebrini is nothing to sneeze at. The draft pick is the reward for taking the cap dumps.
Thoughts?
I wouldn't say Misa is untouchable but I think the only asset that would get him moved is a top ten RHD. For Detroit I think he could be on the table for Seider but that's it.Red Wings fan coming in peace.

He's not 100% untouchable, but he's only available for something that would seem nearly unreasonableRed Wings fan coming in peace.

Depends on how good the offense the has to be to consider that person a good two-way player.I'd say out of their top 9, the only one who isn't is Dorofeyev, and he's an elite goal scorer.
Right now I'd say we have, maybe 2 good two way players?
I'd probably put Wennberg on par with Hertl in terms of what he can create offensively and i think he's a better defensive player (not to mention still plays C while Hertl has moved to the wing with much better linemates). I don't really think he's limited offensive. The only thing limited about his offense are the wingers War puts around him,Depends on how good the offense the has to be to consider that person a good two-way player.
In my book, we have one good two-way player, one decent one-way offense player, and a lot of guys who aren't good enough on offense to deserve the label. Wennberg is the closest other guy I would say that deserves to be called a two-way player, but he's too limited on offense in my opinion for that.
Untouchable is is then. I'd rather have Seider than Misa. Thanks for the time and have a good day. He's not 100% untouchable, but he's only available for something that would seem nearly unreasonable
If Detroit commits to a full tear down and Seider hits the market we can talk, beyond that he's not for sale
Don't blame ya.Untouchable is is then. I'd rather have Seider than Misa. Thanks for the time and have a good day.
Not at all. Just gauging the market. It's fine if you have a higher ask than I'm willing to spend.Big "Yeah? Well, you're ugly, and I didn't want you anyways!" energy.

I'll throw in a few Johan Garpenlov items as well.Wait wait, we'll do it, we'll do it!
Misa for Edvinsson + all the Brad Stuart Red Wings apparel/trading cards you have.
