Speculation: 2023-24-25-26 Sharks Roster Discussion

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Xenforo Cloud is upgrading us to version 2.3.11 on Monday July 20, 2026 at 12:00 AM PST. Expect a temporary downtime during this process. More info here
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I thought tampa was up against the cap which is why they let raddysh walk.
🤷‍♂️
They have almost $15M to work with counting their top 13F, 7D, and 2G. Given CBJ would want roster players coming back, there would be more salary heading back that would open more cap space for TB (would assume Moser is a big piece heading back). Moser, Geekie, 2028 1st, and 2027 2nd feels close to what it would take I think. Probably one more piece (which TB would just fill via UFA tomorrow).

Predictions for tomorrow:

- Fact that Desharnais is still not re-signed and RHD market is thin and getting term, I think he is gone tomorrow and signing a cheapish AAV deal with term for a contender (don't blame him after bouncing around for years). Probably 4 years $3.5M or something like that. Too much term for a bottom pairing with what we have coming in the next few years there.

- I'd imagine if we are giving term to a RHD (4-5 years) it is for someone that Warso/Grier see more as a 4 than a 6. That guy is Andrew Peeke I think (and have been prognosticating for over a year now), who is also a couple of years younger than Vinny.

- It may or may not be tomorrow, but we will make a trade for Morgan Rielly to run PP1. Not really many other options out there that have run NHL PP's before and one of the few veteran options that seemingly prefer to come west rather than stay out east.

I could see Peeke, he played for Warso at the worlds too. If Desharnais goes we're going to need another righty shot. Seems like the plan is to have Pohlkamp start with the Cuda.

I think it’s Peeke+Kesselring on the right and then one of Orlov/Mukh playing their off side. I’ve earmarked Peeke basically since they won gold at IIHF in 2025 for that reason. Could maybe add a Blankenburg to compete for that #6 spot and run a PP too I suppose.

Just don’t see us landing the top of the market guys nor do I see us loading up on a ton of long-term contracts for a lot of average guys either. Needle to thread there, but need someone to play the tough mins.

Also don’t won’t to clog up the pipeline on the right side too much to where there is dead money sitting around should Pohlkamp win a job in camp or even next year when it’s likely Pohlkamp vs Verhoeff for the last RD spot behind Kesselring/Peeke. Need to find a short term option or one that is a lock to hold down a spot for multiple years.

Makes a ton of sense.

Orlov - Kesselring
Reilly - Muhk
Dickinson - Peeke

Or something. Not exactly sure how they’d run but I kinda think Warsofsky is going to give Kesselring a lot of rope and build up his confidence. Orlov feels like a really nice steady presence for him.

It’s honestly a much better D than we had last season, imo.

My guess would be flip Peeke/Kesselring just because he’s going to lean on that potential Orlov-Peeke pairing as his shutdown group.

I also think Dickinson-Kesselring is a fun pairing to grow together as big boys that can skate and have some offense.

Mukh is the piece that doesn’t fit really in the puzzle so trying to find where he goes is hard. It’s an easier group to project if he’s dealt and we bring in a more proven piece, but Grier still seems to like him.
