I'd say no chance. He's the 2C plan for better or worse. I wouldn't rule out a Laughton trade for 3C yet, but even that feels unlikely now.


I think whatever else the Avs will do, will end up being done for as cheap as possible. It feels like they know the prospect pool is particularly thin and they've given away 2nd round picks like candy and are trying to hold onto the few assets we have right now.

This is where I wouldn't rule out a Laughton trade yet... But my guess is they probably still think Newhook can do it. Which is annoying as shit.

I also hope the Avs are one of the contender teams that are interest in Toews if he decides to do another year. I think he could be a good 3C for us and for the faceoff crazies here, Toews + RyJo would make us one of the best faceoff teams in the league.


Give Toews a 1x$1.5M deal with a $1M bonus if he hits 62 games played or something like that.

We weren’t finding a speedy 2C for 4m in free agency or for absolutely no assets through trade, this was brilliant business and I haven’t liked what Cmac has done up to this point either.
