Seattle PR: "Part of the problem is that even if this kid puts up 20 goals we just don't see a lot of of people wanting to wear a jersey that says 'Geekie' on the back. I mean, we've already got a lot of insecure dudes in our fan base as it is..."

I don't want anyone that's been here before, but I'll admit, Duchy for a couple mil for a year. Yeah, no turning that down as long as Mack & Landy are ok with it.

Looking at the free agent list there’s honestly a ton of decent options out there.

Very few high-end guys, but it’s not going to be hard to fill out bottom-6 spots in free agency. They might just have to circle back to a top-6 wing at the trade deadline.

I feel good about the depth available in free agency though. Hopefully the asking prices aren’t too high.

No way I want Duchene on the Avs and all the destructions he’ll bring with him. Besides he’s bad luck. Everywhere he’s gone since living Colorado, those teams have sucked and done nothing.

Stay away

I don't think asking prices will be high at all. Bodes well for cap strapped teams unless the Blackhawks want to sign everyone.

I agree, but he won't have the influence, and he isn't Taylor Hall lol.

If he wants back in, it's a hell of a knee to take if he signs a cheap one year deal. I doubt we could afford more than a couple million realistically, and he can make way more than that.

I really think you need to move Girard. Especially since that 7 mill isn't locked in. For all we know Colton/Byram will be more difficult and more than that. Could end up being 7.5-8. Maybe both want in the 3.5-4 range.

An extra 5 mill would make a massive difference.
Yeah, I don't see how you can keep him and fill all the holes at forward. There are gonna be some really good deals out there, but that 8M, or so, is gonna disappear pretty quickly.

This whole situation makes me think:

(a) we may not see a flurry of signings right away as players/agents may not initially grasp (or want to accept) the current cap climate; and

(b) we could see some Kariya/Selanne type of signings with teams on one year - chase the cup deals (not necessarily with Colorado).

It's fine to shop on Day One. I hope they have a wish list, start at the top, and send out nothing but 1 year offers that make sense for their cap. If someone bites, awesome. But then give it a beat and circle back. Options for the bottom 6 look plentiful. Adding a Top 6 forward is going to be the biggest challenge, IMO.

Jesus the Avs are going to have no problem finding cheap bottom six players. There are a million of them not getting qualified.
True.

Honestly Michael McLeod might be my top 4C option now.

I'd get McLeod and Geekie for the 4th line. ~$1M each.

If the Avs go that route for the entire bottom 6 they could have $4-5M leftover for a Top 6 winger. Depending on if they can get Colton/Byram for $7M or less.

Yeah he’s just a no for me. There are more options out there. Besides, Sakic said they gonna try to get more grit, something Duchene is not

He works with Ryjo, and they brought in grit. Seeing that picture with Landy's kids tells me there is no bad blood there. Mack may be like fk no, so who knows. No one else really has a say beyond Sakic and McFarland.

They will also likely bring in more jam at the lower ranks, and that roster spot needs skill.

Lehkky - Mack - Mikko
Duchy - Ryjo - Nuke

I mean..
