Connor Brown finally scored a goal, a deflection off his skate.
The crowd response was heartwarming.

I get it. There’s just something about a player that is willing to do whatever the hell it takes to stay in the lineup. He’s willing to put his face and body on the line to stay in the NHL. It’s respectable.
yep, I can also see , if he doesn`t improve his actual skill set, him being done within 5 years, kid has to learn how to actually play, he`s not there yet but still timeI get it. Yep….plus if he runs into someone that can really fight…..well,
That would be amazingVegas missing playoffs would be something Wild
They play each other and Wild would need to beat them in regulation to really make things interestingThat would be amazing
I wish no ill will towards Butch but is it ok if I were to have a good chuckle if this were to happen after all the acquisitions they made at the deadline?Vegas missing playoffs would be something Wild
Sabres: perpetually a year away from being a year away.I was at the Sabre/Islander game last night. Nice to see fans back in the stands. Sabres look dangerous. Controlled the game, fast, intense.
Goaltending was rock solid. I wouldn't want to see my bruins face them round 1. Well yes, I would so that I can see a playoff game however scary team right now. So young! and still ranked #1 NHL team for prospects. It's a matter of time this team pulls it all together. The Bo Byram trade was genius. He made the Sabres much much better.

If they hold 8th and get Vancouver I think they have a great chance - only EDM (LAK) would have an easier first round matchup in the West. I’d be surprised if VAN beats Vegas.Vegas have the look of a team that went into a deliberate mid-season slumber and now finds that it doesn't know how to wake up. They were red hot early on but post-Cup fatigue caught up with them, as is common, plus they had a few injuries, so they cooled off. Which should have been fine but then the losing set in and has dragged on well past the time when they should have started to gear up for another run.
The talent is clearly still there but the desire is lagging. I wouldn't be that surprised if they don't qualify, because they really do look totally out of sorts. They've loaded up at the deadline which of course is supposed to help but it takes time to integrate new players and that is something that's no longer on their side.
If their management have any sense they'll be playing the long game. Even if they do make the playoffs, their odds of going all the way again are very small. Other teams are hungrier and fresher. But if they look beyond that, while not even the Knights could pull off the cap wizardry to keep everyone currently on their books, they should still be able to retain quite enough to challenge again next year with a refreshed group. In that regard extending the younger Hanafin while letting Martinez go, for example, would see that trade pay off regardless of the team's short-term fortunes.
