Sure but the Trouba thing was obviously a poor decision on the part of the league, has nothing to do with Tortorella having a tantrum and embarrassing the game more than it is already.
When you have a League that allows the officials to make "poor decisions" on the Trouba assault (he does that on the street he does jail time -- and that is no hyperbole at all) and then you have a DOPS who refuses to even acknowledge same you are going to get players, coaches, and management that blow a gasket every once in a while.

Yet, any criticism of the officials seems to result in fines (and more it seems).

The League is so ridiculously ultra sensitive about any criticism of the officials - even when it is legitimate (again, see Trouba above). If Don Sweeney had called it what it was (a violent assault) he'd have gotten a call from thin skins Gary.

Think Earl Weaver of the Baltimore Orioles got suspended for two games every time he covered home plate with dirt?

The NHL is ridiculous in this regard. Therefore, if Torts want to try to embarrass the League I have zero issues with that.

That is how it works.

When you look at CF or PuckPedia they show the full cap hits. Go to the daily cap and you will see it's broken down daily. Although you have to pay for that so I guess most people don't see it.
ah I had no idea , and Dom, I pay for nothing:) Thank you

There are probably a couple creative ways the league could address the LTIR issue if they really want to. One would be putting a date line in place that any LTIR overages after that have to come from players already under contract. Maybe set that date for early or mid-Feb. So teams can still use it and call up an AHLer or sign a UFA to fill a hole. It would at least prevent TDL shenanigans. Another would be to ban LTIR usage for trades period- if a team is in LTIR and makes a trade, then the salary has to equal out.

Torts wasn't making any bigger statement about the league and officiating other than he was upset at being told to leave the game. Had nothing to do with DOPs or the league as a whole. It was just one man's childish temper getting the best of him.

I'm at a loss to care a great deal if Torts loses his temper or not. He's one of the few coaches out there who let's his real emotions come through and to me it is refreshing. Gary Bettman wants you to think the emperor has a lovely set of clothes on. Friendly hint -- the emporor is indeed naked and the sooner he puts something on that flabby excuse of a body the better. Until then, a few eruptions don't bother me one bit as I can understand the frustration.

Never understood why they lift cap restrictions when the playoffs start- if they're worried about stashing guys during the regular season to activate them come playoff time, why don't they just keep the cap in place through the playoffs?

love the toughness but having watched the Rags vs Leafs game, the guy is a terrible skater and is, at this stage of his career, nothing but a goon who can`t play
I get it. There’s just something about a player that is willing to do whatever the hell it takes to stay in the lineup. He’s willing to put his face and body on the line to stay in the NHL. It’s respectable.

He's been more willing to put other people's faces and bodies on the line is the problem.

But he'll learn, or he won't and won't stay long.
