It's an embarrassment to see the NHL allowing lacrosse type goals, it's real bush league BS to me.
Imagine what Bobby Orr could've done if that crap was allowed back then.
I saw one of his puck handling drills, where he would balance a puck on his stick while skating around the rink, he would of scored a bunch of those type of goals.
I'm an old curmudgeon. So before you youngster's tell me to get with the times and stop living in the past, I am going to proactively tell you to get the f*** off my lawn.

So with that cleared up, the "michigan" is the stupidest, slimiest move in sports. Total bullshit. Someone tries that on me they can sit out the rest of the season with broken fingers from me slashing their stick/hands so hard you could hear the bones break in the stands (honest, I was just trying to dislodge the puck).

It wasn't allowed back then?
Probably was. I expect it was more a case of Orr having some class.

And that stupid slam dunk too. Where has the midrange game gone?

Yeah its lame. Doesn't even belong in a skills competition. In the old days some "accidental" lumber to the chiclets would've stopped that dead in its tracks

I'm conflicted on the Michigan. When Lauko tried it, I thought I was a clever, creative way to beat a goalie on a wraparound, which has gotten nearly impossible which the size and athleticism of modern goalies.

When Svechnikov did it, I thought it was an affront to humanity. ;)

It's a lacrosse play, not a hockey play. The puck is supposed to be on the ice, not up in the air like in the basket of a lacrosse stick. Also, the "traveling" thing bothers me about it too. Should be a dead play IMO.

You may as well not count any deflection goals either, after all that's a baseball play not a hockey play

I didn't like his either. It just seems like slimey way to get a goal. Again, IMO. I mean unless they make it legal for a goalie to come up with his blocker and just knock the stick right out of the players hands, I don't think it should be a legal play. Goalie can't defend it.

That makes zero sense. Deflections are deflections. You can like the move all you want, just as I can dislike it.

Is that somewhere in the rules?

I think it shouldn’t be allowed. Reason being the only effective way to defend it is to slash the guy doing it. Rule 61.1

Its not like that move people call the Michigan (copied from the Albany River Rats) is undetectable. You can see the guy go down to scoop it up with his blade.
So my problem is when it comes as a surprise. Slash the shaft if you have to, but read it better defensively and don't be surprised anymore.

I agree….but it would be a penalty as currently written. Thats why I think something needs tweaking.

Poor Calgary offered 1.15m more a year and still couldn’t get him. Though that might be close with Nevada not having an income tax

Vegas had a lot going for it

Teams good and older
Friends on team
8th year
No state income tax
Golf/weather
Entertainment

I’d take that over here as well

Thought Tampa had him the way agent went about this
