I love SLC, great town, beautiful scenery. They deserve a team there.

I wonder if they keep the Coyotes branding or they rebrand. They could either adopt the Grizzlies name from the former AHL/ECHL history of the city or something new altogether.

From Arizona Coyotes to Utah Roadrunners. That'd be something.

The irony would be delicious.

Feel bad for the Coyotes fans if the team relocates. Other non traditional hockey markets have been able to succeed but that organization has had the stench of incompetence lingering around them for years and the only time they have made the playoffs since 2012 is the covid year where they wouldn't have been a playoff team in a normal season.

I also realize the easy counter to this is guys without clauses get traded all the time, but for things like forced relocation, players who would be ufa's if they were about to hit the open market should be able to get out of their contracts if they want to. Extending with a team or going to Arizona as a free agent because you want to be in Arizona then everyone gets forced to f***ing Utah. Get me out of that situation.

I'd much rather live in Utah than in Arizona

Utah is very beautiful. Scenic. Clean. Fans show up for the Jazz. Do they like hockey there? Eh. But the Coyotes deserve to go somewhere where they aren't playing in a college barn.

Didn't expect it to be Utah though. Logistically...zona fans can still drive to see the team play.

Would be a lot closer to Boise. Only a 5 hour drive instead of 9-1/2 hours to Seattle. The Climate Pledge Arena is really nice, but going to SLC to watch the Bruins would be so much easier for us.
Just over 2.5 hours from OKC to SLC and Delta has 2 non stop flights.

Whatever became of the new Yote arena that was alleged to be going up in Tempe? I haven't followed this too closely, but that was the going thing not that long ago.

I think it's a proposal more than anything. I don't think it was OFFICIAL - Seems like they're trying to deflect a bit.

It's an embarrassment to see the NHL allowing lacrosse type goals, it's real bush league BS to me.
Imagine what Bobby Orr could've done if that crap was allowed back then.
I saw one of his puck handling drills, where he would balance a puck on his stick while skating around the rink, he would of scored a bunch of those type of goals.
I'm glad I'm not the only one thinks it's BS it's allowed. I liken it to travelling in basketball. Should be a dead play if take more than 1 stride with puck off the ice like that. IMO of course.
