TBH, if a guy did that to the B’s, I’d want it addressed.

Not in a dirty way.

Just a face to face, straight up challenge.

I mean its not the most egregious thing ever….but it was disrespectful.

Hockey has unusual codes and internal rules. If a guy in Aussie Rules football is strolling into an open forward line to kick a game-sealing goal, you'd better believe 9 times out of 10 he's booting that ball as far and hard through the posts as he can, and everyone will love him for it, because it's great theatre. Do it in hockey and it's 'disrespect'. The two scenarios are not completely analogous, but they're close enough. Point is the hockey code of honor is often weird to outsiders.

That said, I get why what Greig did was considered poor form, even though I kind of liked the emotion and the little bit of salt that went with it. Reilly was well within his rights to challenge him over it, just came in way too hot and got it very wrong. So a suspension it will be, and rightly so IMO.

I'm just confused why letting loose a slap shot into an open goal, with minimal fanfare, is somehow more disrespectful than a goalie launching a 200 foot humiliation tablet into the opponent's goal, followed by the whole team going nuts and showing the opposing team up.

I’m in favor of what Rielly did and if this happened to the Bruins and no one responded people would be freaking out.

My issue is Rielly throwing punches like a harbor seal. Have some pride man.
Not sure I can agree with this. Stupid and petulant. Your best Dman sitting for 6+ games when still fighting for playoffs is just the epitome of the Leafs. Dumb and selfish.

Zach MacEwen on waivers..Signed through next 2 season though but only at 775 grand avg..He would certainly help bottom 6 with his style and add toughness when needed.Just throwing this out there because lots here say Bruins need it

He's a big upgrade on Steen. Big guy with wheels but would get hurt fighting the heavies in the division.

I'd pick him up to replace Steen but nothig else.

I would have been all for it if Rielly dropped the gloves. I mean, it's probably still a petulant sore-loser move, but I'm OK with it if you want to rally the troops and maybe fire 'em up for next time. A Marchand on Eller response if you will.

But a blindside crosscheck to the head is gutless and stupid. It's also right on brand for the Leafs.

Also, Reaves may be good copy (I guess) but he's not an NHL-level player. I love that the Leafs are dumb enough to dole out the dough for a guy that can't play at the level. More wasted energy and money in Toronto.

Maybe next year...

Hertl to have Knee surgery. Guess he wont be part of TDL discussions anymore. Has a NMC but he can waive it, so he controls his destiny.

Laughing and joking about certain topics is NOT ok. Wishing Laine all the best. Glad to see it being called out and the player being supported.

There's a lot to be said in favor of giving any moron a platform for broadcasting themselves to the public; this is definitely not one of them. Extra moron points to the clown who guffawed at that classless attempt at being "edgy".

I'm just glad it is being called out . It is refreshing to see the major reporters who cover the league all condemning it.

there are elements of humanity that are completely and utterly hopeless, completely absent of the slightest redeemable quality
I disagree.

Every life has choices. If you choose to be a villain, you can then choose to turn around and NOT be a villain anymore.

I see it daily, people working HARD to change their lives. Gang bangers, addicts, dealers, people most would not want to even talk to. I've seen many give up and fall to their addictions and behavior. I've also seen many put it all down and struggle to change.

No one is beyond redemption. Because redemption is not something we can do alone.

They've already released an apology but with the increased commentary and denouncing of what was said, their next move will go a long way in the road to any sort of redemption they may be afforded.

Own the mistake and use it to produce some good. Thats what they can do here. "I was wrong to do this" and " This is what I am going to do to change" while " doing something to support those Ive hurt"

Check all three off.
Something I've learned to live by and I encourage others to as well. We are not perfect, but we can learn and change.

I’d respond but such discourse is not permitted here, probably shouldn’t have expressed my opinion to begin with
