Is it just me or is the league as a whole rather tame this year? Like I don't look at the standings and see any team that I'm like wow they are the favorites. I see a whole bunch of good teams at the top but I don't think I'd be able to pick a "favorite" from the bunch at the top

It is a bit of an odd year I agree

I hope someone else on Columbus give Cousins another working over. Too bad they tossed Gudbranson.
Worst part is that Gudbranson will get fined and suspended, and Cousins will keep playing. And if Pascal Vincent complains, he'll get fined as well. Because the league doesn't have an officiating problem. It has a Retaliation problem and a Coaches Complaining about Officiating problem.

Freaking joke that it even had to come to Gudbranson doing what he did. Refs largely responsible for what took place. Gudbranson realized he was the only one who could hold cowardly Cousins to account. Zero issue whatsoever with Gudbranson's actions. That cheap hit on him could have turned out extremely bad and should have resulted in an ejection. NHL reffing and DoPS continue to be an inconsistent mess.

Being at the top doesn’t necessarily make one the favourite,if Vegas has the hunger for another cup,I would say they are the favourite.

Agreed. Cousins threw a terrible hit, turtled, and then refused to fight after coming out of the box when the refs inexplicably didn't give him 5 and a game. He got what was coming and the refs should be embarrassed by the way they handled this.

Yeah I'd say it's looking pretty even amongst the top teams. Vegas are still very good but they're beatable and like most champs they'll probably enter the playoffs that bit more tired than most. All the rest have their strengths and weaknesses. There are no absolute wagon teams around. The Rangers are probably the best in the east on paper but not by much and again they're hardly infallible. The Avs are still solid out west but they've never really recovered from losing Landeskog.

I'd say as well there seems to be a relative lack of elite/A-grade goalies around this year. Multiple teams that are otherwise strong contenders, or should be, like Carolina, Edmonton, NJ, Colorado and Toronto, all have netminder issues, and while Vegas and LA have had guys in Hill and Talbot playing above themselves, that may not be sustainable.

In a parity cap league all this is as it should be, more so in some years than others. What it means of course for a team like the Bruins who have a decent roster but probably not a great one is the opportunity for a deep run is still very much there. You just have to set yourselves for playoff hockey, and get hot and have some injury luck at the right time, just as the Panthers did last season. Boston fluffed what should have been a much better chance with last year's roster, just maybe they can learn from that and do more with less in 2024. At the very least, it doesn't seem like there will be any 'immovable objects' in their way.

Erik Gudbranson Is a treasure. What an animal.

Anyone else notice how fast cousins assumed the turtle position. He just crushed his head into the boards then goes full Franklin before Gubranson even touched him. Cousins is a coward. Now he probably has a concussion because he refused to answer for his dangerous hit.

Is anyone surprised that it was Cousins laying a cheap shot, running his mouth, then turtling? He's such a clown and I'm glad someone finally forced the issue. Good for Gudbranson.

Also that Perron cross check was absolutely horrendous. Zub was calling help over for Larkin and had nothing to do with the play. Perron was 100% trying to cause a head injury. He shouldn't see the ice again this year and no I'm not joking, that was a disgrace.

turtling not just once but twice, first when Gudbranson gets up from the hit then again when Gudbranson dummies him, piece of crap(Cousins not Gudbranson)
