I see nothing wrong with it. When Sidney Crosby came into the NHL everyone wanted to rough him up and he had to take his lumps and got everyone's respect. It happens. Clark is special but everyone else in that league is probably sick of the hype and wants to give her a hard welcome to the pros.
Gotta earn their respect. Welcome to the big leagues CC.

Tbh this stuff only makes me more likely to watch, I think it’s great
It didn't even happen during play. Clark was waiting to get the ball and that girl comes in and hip checks her for no reason. In game, I don't mind a battle. Hard fouls, sure. THIS? Yeah it was bs. No flagrant was called in the game. The WNBA upgraded the foul today to a Flagrant.

It's at the point with this rookie class that every game these vets are just going wild. I dont mind the hard play. I love a battle. But the stuff that's been going on is pretty insane. This WNBA season is wild 😂

I don't think fans should be cheering on this kind of bullying just seems mean. I was rooting for Angel Reese the last couple of years too I tend to root for the Dennis Rodmans of the WNBA. Feel bad for Clark bc her supporting cast should be good Samuelson and Boston were studs at one time but the rest of that team other than her us horrendous right now and its not her fault. How does Alliya Boston totally forget how to play basketball?

It sucks we don't have a team I would buy season tickets Jeremy Jacobs is such a loser worst ice in the NHL and he blocks his tenants the Celtics from having a WNBA team.

Flagrant fouls happen all the time. Yeah it’s dirty, but its a shoulder check. She’ll survive. The emotion/heat makes things more compelling to me

Caitlin is handling it a lot better than the fans imo- I have a ton of respect for her. She’s gonna have a target on her like Crosby did. People get jealous when a prodigy comes along. She’ll continue to play through it and be the star that she is

Her fans think she's untouchable. News flash: she's not. She's gotta earn the respect from her fellow players. If she doesn't want to be pushed around, she needs to work on her physical game. It is easy to sit there and cry about how mean people are from your parents basement but in reality, physicality in basketball is back on both the men and women's side and no one is immune to it. Playing favorites by the league/refs makes the product unwatchable.

I won;t get into the politics on it, but there is a lot more at play that pick on the rookie.

Cheap shots are not part of the game. They are BS. And if stuff like the one the other day keep happening the league is going to need to start suspending players.

Good grief CC has raised the attention and value of the league substantially, more than any other player.

I agree. She is handling it well. But that was a cheap shot. It wasn't a play during a game. There is no need for that whatsoever. That's not basketball. That's just bullshit. From a player who keeps posting on all her social media about Clark. The jealous and hate is real. I love physicality. I love the rough stuff. But what Carter did was crap. And these officials have been atrocious for years, but especially this year.

And the WNBA has allowed this bully ball stuff for years. I've been watching. And what's gonna happen is, some idiot will take another cheap shot at Clark, she'll get injured and there goes the cash cow for the league.

And it's not just happening to Clark.

Can't defend this type of play.

What does any of this have to do with a blatant cheap shot away from the play? It's not like it was a hard foul on a layup attempt.

I’m pushing back on those who think she shouldn’t be touched at all. Sure it was a cheap shot but that’s what happens in the heat of play.

Just real tired of her fans thinking she shouldn’t be touched and anyone who dares to should be thrown out of games and suspended. She’s a great player but you have to be blind not to see how rediculous people are being whenever she loses, has a bad game or gets pushed around.

There’s at least one poster in this thread who is 100% driven by politics when discussing CC and it’s not you or I.

Heat of the moment incidents happen almost every game in all leagues. Look at the last game the C’s played. Pritchard gets kicked in the face and Jaylen Brown clotheslines a guy. Neither got tossed out and the refs let them play. Same thing happened to CC.

If that happens to any other player no one is batting an eyelash. If anything, CC has brought to light the double standard that sadly exists in all of sports,

I’m guessing you’re in the minority with your take here. I don’t see anyone claiming “she shouldn’t be touched”. It was a garbage play imo. It wasn’t during the play. Not sure why you’re twisting into a pretzel trying to defend it.

I agree with Shannon Sharpe & Chad Jackson’s take someone posted above. It’s bush league. Caitlyn Clark & Angel Reese are drawing eyes to the WNBA. They’re great for the league. As Sharp said “they’re the WNBA’s Bird & Magic. Some of these “vets” are totally jealous of the spotlight these two young women are receiving.

I genuinely haven't seen a single person say "no one can touch her," but I have seen people saying it's not a big deal when someone hits her with a cheapshot.

And why wouldn't a fan of hers be angry about a cheap shot? If I throw a milkshake in Chris Kelly's face tonight you'll murder me before the Sun rises.

There are plenty of people out there claiming this who were silent when the same shit was happening to Candace Parker or Diana Turasi. I'm not twisting myself into a pretzel over this. Honestly, I don't care about Caitlin Clark but with 5 more days without the Celtics, I'm just participating in dialogue about something another poster brought up.

I don't give a shit if people agree with me or not. I just don't see the big deal over her taking a cheap shot and the mental gymnastics some people in the media and on social media are doing to make her seem like she's abover everyone else.

I also happen to enjoy the return of physical basketball and how it it is become normalized in women's sports. The sooner women's sports can shake the narrative that they are too passive and boring because there isn't any animosity, the better.

No I'd actually laugh my ass off if someone threw a milkshake on him.

I really feel like you're arguing with a strawman here. I don't give a shit if someone commits a hard foul on Clark during the course of play. I do think it's bullshit to be throwing body checks at her because you don't like the attention she's getting.

Guess what? She's going to help put a lot more money in every single WNBA players pocket. If she is hurt because someone hit her with a cheapshot it's going to hurt the entire league and therefore their earning power.

I think the only way to stop the flagrant fouls against her is to actually ask the other players why they are committing these types of fouls. Perhaps she's saying stuff behind the scenes? (I doubt it but you never know).

My guess is that it has to do with the fact that some of these women have been busting their asses to keep the league afloat as well as fight for simple things like better accommodations, practice facilities, better pay ect. and in walks Clark and it is like she is the only player worth anything. Some may be pure jealousy but I be a lot of the issues stem from how they are perceived. It isn't a Clark issue but it would be nice to see her push back on the media and those who put her on a pedestal.

Tbh that’s what I want the Celtics to be doing to Kyrie or Doncic in the series. Rattle their cage. It’s a shoulder check, it’s not a sucker punch. Flagrant 1 and move on. Morris and Jokic did 10x worse to each other in a regular season, meaningless game

And there are absolutely people trying to make it a political/race thing online when it’s merely a jealousy/competition thing, it’s something prodigy’s face in all sports regardless of their background. Bedard was even targeted this year. People were always trying to f*** around with Crosby after the whistle. It’s why the oilers stapled Kassian next to McDavid when he was young. It’s what happens in sports when you’re a young superstar getting all the attention! They initiate you into the league! I look forward to Caitlin’s continued growth, I think she’s the best thing to ever happen to women’s basketball
