Harris with 6 goals in 6 games. As a sophomore. Must have seen the light because only 14 in 42 games last year.

@montreal do we have anything in Harris or is this just sophomore taking advantage of a Denver team that inflates point totals of all it's players.

this is all I have, haven't watched him yet. With the NCAA keep in mind how the schedule works, the 1st half of the season is the weaker part as it's a lot of non conference games, and then the 2nd half starting in Jan is almost all conference games.

So DU has played some of the worst teams in the NCAA. AAU, Lindenwood, Yale, in those 6 games they have outscored those teams 29-6. I have complained for years about this as what's the f***ing point of watching the best teams in the NCAA kick the living shit out of teams that have zero NHL draft picks.

The Atlantic conference, the CCHA and the IND teams shouldn't be in D1 imo, 1 or 2 of the top teams from there could hang with the top programs but the rest are just cannon fodder as it's so hard to compete against the likes of Michigan, Minnesota, Denver, BC, BU, etc.. when they get all the top NHL draft picks in the NCAA.

DU has scored 49 goals this year, only 1 other team has more then 38 goals and that's Minnesota. DU has been a top program, they have a great coach imo, they have won the most NCAA Championships in history. They clearly are a favorite to repeat this year, which would give them 3 National Championships in the last 4 years. So this isn't to knock them for beating up on some much weaker programs.

This kid is no flash in the pan. Go back and watch the tapes of the Rookie Challenge . Harris' skating was the equal of any player on the ice: that includes Beck and Hage. When you can skate like that, anything is possible.
Skating ..... and decent size. He's no Farrell.

Skating is generally listed as one of his biggest weaknesses....he is not any where near Hage or Beck in this conversation.

Is that to be read in a Russian accent? ;-)
In any language or accent, the team that skates better usually wins. In Harris’ case, it was readily apparent in the rookie camp that he was one of the better, if not the best skaters among the participating Montreal prospects. Harris has the skating to play and play effectively at the NHL level.

Agreed. I was at ice level and he was most definitely not the standout as far as skating goes,

His strengths are playing a robust, high energy game and finishing around the net. Appears to have decent IQ and a plus shot. His upside imo is a 3rd line winger but more likely a 4th liner.

I like him and think he may have a future but we are in agreement on the skating as it is nowhere near being a plus.

This is a terrible take and seems to be a theme with your often wildly incorrect assessments of player's skating abilities.

Skating is not the most important attribute.....it is IQ and it is not even close.

What other late round gems have the Habs produced recently?
Rhp played NHL games as a 7th rounder. Primeau. Jake Evans. Definitely not common to have three homegrown 7th rounders on the roster.

Joshua Roy too. Possibly dobes.

I wouldn't beat the drum early on anyone from 2022-present though with how Farrell turned out.

If you tell me that Primeau is a gem... we don't watch the same games.

Yeah I’ll be careful 🙈
One thing he has over Farrell is size. He’s 6’1 so he will fill out a bit more the next couple of years.

I wanted the Habs to use a late round pick on Harris as he was teammates with Jack Smith in the USHL but he went undrafted the 1st time around. He works hard and will grind it out so he's the kind that if the offense doesn't translate, he can still make it as a 4th liner. The skating and speed were the knocks on him. I believe last season he got off to a hot start, but the NCAA is known for a weaker schedule in the 1st half and then a tougher one in the 2nd since those are mostly all conference games until the NCAA tournament so we'll see how the year goes for him.

I thought he started slow and got hot at the end, but dads can get baby brain too so I'm not a reliable narrator.

you are right, I must have mixed him up with someone else, he had 13 pts in 11 gms from Feb 16th to March 22nd, he had 1 pt in the final 5 games of the season. 6 of his 21 pts were against his former teammate in Jack Smith at UMD.
