Prospect Info: [2023 - 110th] Bogdan Konyushkov (KHL - Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod)

Imo no.

However, Bogdan has 1 more year on his contract in the KHL..

Sign him, potentially 1 year in the A and then he can replace Carrier if things workout for him.
I'd be surprised if Bogdan ever surpasses Carrier at the NHL level. But for sure it's worth a try, and if not he's a trade chip.

Same with Struble vis-a-vis Xhekaj, assuming Hutson and Guhle will be 1-2 on the LD side for the long term.

It seems Bogdan, Struble, and Engstrom will be trade chips long term. Reinbacher and Carrier may be long term solutions on the right. Then Matheson and Mailloux can fight for the last RD spot. Or we trade for the missing piece on RD.

Hutson - Reinbacher
Guhle - Matheson/[D from a trade]
Xhekaj - Carrier/Mailloux/[D from a trade]

It's more you get the cheaper option for the bottom pairing and a better fit as you'll have someone else pushing Carrier down and don't have to give him a raise paying 4 mill, or more for a bottom pairing dman.

That is, of course assuming prospects, trades, or free agency bring in better RHDs than Carrier pushing him to the 3rd pairing.

Always the chance that Bogdan becomes nothing and Carrier remains solid and the Habs are sort of forced to keep him.

Engstrom played effectively on the right side in Sweden so he can potentially be a long-term solution on the right side.

Bogdan was the captain of Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo, Today. January 23th 2025.

In 2026 unless he negotiates a buyout from his KHL team this summer. Not exactly sure of the whole timeline/procedure of KHL buyouts.

He did say he wanted to come to the 2025 Dev camp so who knows?

I assume he would try to do a Emelin and make the NHL team from the get go.

I imagine he can do that... he's captain of his KHL team and plays like 4million minutes a night!

I'm not sure why? They don't even play the same side...
I get that, sure bud
But unfortunately that doesn't really matter when the chair is "PP QB" doesn't matter what 'side' you play
You can only have 1

And if he's not going to be the PP QB
Then what exactly is he going to bring to my team..?
I said this 'exact same thing' about Jordan Harris
For that guy, if he's not gonna get PP time, I'd rather use other more defensive and sizeable options..
And surprise, he's gone (also same for Barron)

I am *not* saying he's no good or a bust
I *said* he's a great Trade Asset
Which he clearly now is
And that's fine too!

Yeah totally...

I guess I just don't expect him to be a PPQB. He is playing a much more complete role now it seems.

There is countless examples of top tier teams having two Top-tier PP QB’s at the same time. Obviously ice time is going to favour one or split evenly or maybe the team goes back to 3 FWD and 2D on the PP. play will ultimately dictate who gets what.

If the organization sees value in Konyushkov coming over , do it. Personally I have more faith in him amounting to something than Mailloux.

Totally fair.

Just don't get your hopes up bud.

Again, totally fair

Just don't see it

They will go with Carrier , Reinbacher, 1st round Draft pick/trade acquisition/ free agent signing before we *ever* see Bogdan on this team unfortunately for his more die hard fans

I don't know where you get that certainty.

I assume that at some point Bogdan will come to the AHL.

If he torches it, he will get a shot with the big team.

If we're ever in a cap crunch, I could see Bogdan replace Carrier, especially if Carrier is up for a raise on his next contract and Reinbacher and another RD have passed him in the top 4...we'll see in 2 years...

i mainly see him as a Jordan Harris type of depth D. If he can be a trade chip for another Laine, it'd be nice :sarcasm:

Who has their hopes up? You're trying to put the brakes on a non-existent hype train lol.

Outside of Demidov saying 'don't get your hopes up' works for pretty much every other prospect. Mathematically you'll be right more than you'll be wrong. Not really that bold of a statement.
That's great bud
If he makes it you can say 'I told you so' and I'll gladly tip my cap.
Just don't get your hopes up :D

I didn't say anything of the sort. Are you ok? You're trying to fight off imaginary Bogdan Konyushkov supporters lol.

I have no idea how he'll translate, he's organizational depth until he proves otherwise but I'm sure he'll see AHL time if he wants to come over. Beyond that, who knows but he's a RHD so he'll get a look based on that alone.

I don't care about saying "I told you so" when it comes to prospects.

Like you, I don't actually know how good Bogdan is.

IMO, his path to the NHL is rather ordibary: he needs to stay healthy, and torch the AHL.
