I really dont care who catches who. They are both solid defenders.

What I care about is keeping Kirk's bat in the lineup. We have too much played players like Guerrero and Springer at DH which in turn takes Kirk out of lineup if hes not catching.

Why is Guerrero DHing so much? It makes no sense to me. Springer I get. His position is more taxing. Why arent players like Espinal or Bichette getting days off? We have Biggio to relieve them.

If your going to give time off to players everyone should get some time. Maybe it is a good idea in this series against the AAA Royals that we give some of our regulars some days off. Bichette? Espinal? Springer? Guerrero? Chapman?

It’s complex because some players actually prefer to play every single day. There is no need to give a day off to someone like Bo if he actively prefers to play every game. Other guys, want to or need to get their play time managed more.

Based on results, it appears who catches does matter. Berrios, Kikuchi, Stripling and Ryu have better numbers with Jansen. Kikuchi has a small sample size with Kirk but seems to pitch like a 5th starter with Jansen at least. And Manoah has fantastic numbers with Kirk as his catcher. Gausman is good with both but better with Kirk. Berrios and Stripling arent bad with Kirk either if Jansen needs a breather.

When your pitchers are struggle, you give them what edge they need to get better results.

Baseball's tough because even a shitty team's AAA team has a decent enough chance of winning 1 of 4 against a good MLB team. I would grudgingly accept a series win, but yeah... sweep em!

I was more looking at peripherals;

Berrios with Jansen:
K/BB: 6.80
tOPS+: 96

Berrios with Kirk:
K/BB: 3.90
tOPS+: 121

Team batting average, on base and slugging at least 40 points lower across the board with Jansen than Kirk.

About f***ing time they shook up the lineup.

Only interesting thing to watch on the KC side is Pratto and Pasquanito are the Royals best two prospects and weren't expected to be seen until later in the year.

That lineup wasn't good to begin with but it basically loses everything of value coming into this series.

But don't worry, Dayton Moore assured everyone these are men of character.
