Finland boys are here. To kick the blues out of ya lot in Canada.

Except for Brad Lambert - he plays for himself to get a NHL-contract.

Everybody in Finland knows it. If he play - by the Finland rules - he will be in the squad if not he will be out in a fingersnap.

Looks like Aleksi Heimosalmi and Rami Määttä will miss out too.

Ässien Liiga-joukkueessa koronavirustartuntoja – loppuviikon ottelut siirtyvät
Ässät's whole liiga team quarantined
Heimosalmi and Määttä both really likely out of U20 WJC's ( worst scenario )
Räty, Heimosalmi, Määttä that's 3 key players but how to replace those guys and is it even possible.

But where we take those replacements.
Sedoff is playing Red Deer Rebels in WHL so he's already in Canada
but does he have chances to play in U20 WJC's and who replaces Räty and Määttä.
What's Samu Salminen's situation Salminen can play center and was very good in U18 WJC's.

Finland is not kicking anyone-else expect Germany and Austria who are same group.
Thanks for Covid19 Finland will miss 3 key players ( Heimosalmi, Määttä and Räty ) in U20 WJC's.

Especially center depth is taking big hit if / when Räty is out
and so does Finland's defence if / when Heimosalmi and Määttä are out
If Finland makes even semifinals with missing 3 key players in U20 WJC's i'm happy.

Tough losses for the Fins. I'd like to hear expectations from some Finnish fans on where you think this team will end up? I personally have them 5th on paper behind the other Big 4 nations. I'm not very familiar with the defense though.

Very good coaching, so still a chance for bronze. But losing our #1 C takes us away from gold medal battle, I'd say.

Why is Räty out? Did he test positive? Just while ago, in Finland if you had both vaccines taken you are not forced to be quarantined if you are only exposed.

What you can expect when Covid19 pandemic is getting worse all the time in Finland?
And same time our government is sitting thumbs in their asses and doing nothing
to even try to get this shit situation under control.

Sanna Marin is lousiest prime-minister what Finland has ever had
that bimbo is interested only for partying and breaking quarantine rules
and not doing her's job which supposed to be lead our country our of this pandemic situation.

No country is out of this pandemic situation before every country is, that's why it's called a pandemic. But perhaps they should close the borders and cancel WJC participation altogether because hockey is one of the more prominent sources of superspreader events.

There was an outbreak among Jukurit and the entire team was quarantined as a result. I admit, I'm not 100% certain what the current instructions for the general populace are with the Omicron variant spreading fast and all, but no matter what they are, the authorities can override them on a case-by-case basis if they see the need - it's always been so. (Even before the pandemic.)

Räty himself, as far as we know, is not among the players who have tested positive (so far). And even if he ultimately does test negative, he will miss the team flight due to the quarantine - they'd have to make a special case for him to enter the bubble, and even if that was allowed, he'd have to fulfill the Canadian government's entry quarantine protocols. As a result, he'd end up missing a bunch of games unless a whole lot of exemptions were being made for him, by authorities all around the world.

(As an aside, the title of the most embarrassing post of the day goes to the hot take blaming the prime minister for this. She didn't exactly earn herself any good rep with her night out clubbing, but the situation is bad all around Europe. I get that we're all upset and need to vent, but cringey stuff is still cringey.)

Hirvonen - Helenius(A) - Simontaival
Järventie(A) - Päivärinta - Lambert
Koivunen - Kapanen - Kemell
Nikupeteri - Määttä - Väisänen
Mäenpää, Karvinen

Viro - Niemelä(C)
Nurmi - Puutio
Aho - Heimosalmi
Rafkin - Ottavainen

Räty is a big loss, but i still have faith in this team. Hirvonen-Simontaival duo is lethal, and Helenius as a "defense first"-center will fit there nicely. If Lambert & Koivunen can get Järventie & Kemell scoring we'll be fine. All Päivärinta and Kapanen has to do is to win face-offs and take care of the defensive responsibilities. I would probably start with 13F and 7D for couple games, just to see if Mäenpää could amp up our PP.

Have to put Lambert or Hirvonen on the middle now, I think. No other center left with the offensive talent you want from 1C. Probably Lambert since he has at least played C in Liiga this year

First two games vs Germany and Austria
should be easy and very clear win for Finland ( both games at least 6 or 8 goals )
Czech-Republic will cause troubles for us but still that should be a close win ( 1 goal margin )
Canada will be too much for this Finnish team so clear lose with probably 3 or 4 goals.
Quarterfinal should be close and tight game.

That's all what i wanna speculate for now.

Hirvonen has been winger all season in HIFK so Lambert goes to middle.
Hirvonen Lambert Simontaival would be good 1st line
