WJC: 2022 Sweden Roster Talk

Last time I was this excited about one single player in the WJC was in 2018 about Pettersson after seing the glimpses of sick slickness in 2017 when he drew like a million penalties against Slovakia. Eklund kind of has the same pain in the ass kinda slickness.
 
The first match against Russia tomorrow. A little poll..when Monten finds out that Ake can't play in the second row and move him to the fourth attack? I think it will change after the third match. It's Monten's last tournament, so hopefully it will be a dignified tournament under him.

Last year he made his adjustments for the quarters.

But even with the adjustments he still played Sundsvik more than everybody on the top line, even with the penalties advantage. :laugh:

No way to know but he really has to stink it up for Montén to change it up, being invisible isn’t enough so who the f*** knows. God damn if Montén isn’t the low point of swedish NTs i don’t even know..

Well anyways good luck finding another job in hockey outside of the SIF.

Monten was handed some amazing teams. Unbelievable that he failed to win gold.
I still remember that stacked 2018 team with Petterson, Nylander, Liljegren, Dahlin, Andersson…wow.

And now, after winning over Russia and successfully entering the tournament, would I be interested in your opinion of Ake's phantom? Good performance for me, I didn't expect something like that from him and his movement in front of the goal during the powerplay was excellent. This may be a role that will suit him and I wonder if he is able to repeat his performance.

He and his line struggled against better players and got stuck often in the dzone.

Yep. Nice hands in tight spaces and showed off pretty good hockey sense a couple of times. He certainly outplayed most of the other forwards beyond the first line and Niederbach. Guys like Torgersson, Ljungman, Stenman, Sjöberg, Rosén were all pretty awful. Ekmark made som strong plays defensively but otherwise bland.

Many bad passes. stupid puck losses under pressure from Slovakia, several icings. The perfomance of the defense today was really bad, plus the stupid exclusion of Lööf. What the hell did I see? If the defense does not return to performance against Russia, then players such as Beniers, Cooley or Coronato will have it very easy and Wallstedt will have almost fifty shots.
 
Watched most of the Slovakia game now. As good as Wallstedt is, the defense can't hang him out to dry like that.

Unfortunately Monten won't change anything because he's uncapable of thinking on the spot. He probably sees every win as a confirmation he's doing things right.
 
He was, just a clueless idiot who selected someone else.
He is one of the better d and still no spot when he is playing for the top shl team with more pts than any other d except Edvinsson

I would argue he'd be the second best D on the team, I'm personally not very impressed by Grans defensive game, but depending on how high you are on Grans there’s no doubt in my mind Wallinder is either the second or third best D in this age group.
And I don't think it's all that close either.
