The Quiet Corner
Yup!
Rule 5 draft pick. Yankees left him exposed last year and chose to keep Brett Gardner on the roster. We picked him up. He had TJ surgery a year before that and was deemed a low risk high reward situation. We scooped him up and the rest is history. Yanks gave up on the kid for Brett f***ing Gardner and we have reaped the rewards.

I love sticking it to the Evil Empire

Apparently Houck can’t pitch in toronto on Tuesday because he’s unvaxxed…would’ve been nice to have him for those right handed bats….

At least it can kind of be scheduled around in the playoffs

Those mandates will most likely be dropped by that time anyways.

Hopefully.

Also Wacha is dealing. Had a 15 pitch at bat that should have been over after the 3rd pitch change up if the Ump would have just called balls and strikes. f***ing dumpire.

Great at bat - Wacha has the stuff to be a dominant one or two inning guy

It was truly. Correa is a good player. That at-bay was baseball porn for some guys. I found it interesting. I was so bad because Wacha was “no hit” dealing at that point and if the ump had just given him the strike on the low change to Correa he would have been 15 pitches fresher and maybe the rest of the game goes differently.

I was hoping for an Easter No Hitter.

I agree I felt same - but he never gave in

Seiya Suzuki in RF exactly what this team needed

Wacha is only 30. Big frame. Could easily revert back to All Star form. This being the era of analytics I doubt we overload him either and he was healthy if mediocre last year for Tampa.

Just need to get my boys Seabold and Darwinzon into the rotation for Hill and Pivetta both of whom might do well in the bullpen.

You might see Winckowski before Seabold at this rate. Seabold has pitched well but the stuff and command isn’t what it was from before last years injury. I’m rooting for him though- there was a time he was 93-95 with a plus changeup, an ok slider, and good command. I also don’t think they look at Darwinzon as a major league starter, I think they plan on bringing him back as a left handed bulk guy. His “starts” in Worcester aren’t really going too long. He’s 2-3 innings.

As an aside- if Devers is gonna make plays like the one he did today in CF they have to back up the brinks truck, there’s no excuse

Rich Hill dad passed away at 94 two days ago

His father was teacher, coach, and principal at Quincy HS.

He ran 36 marathons

Was a Korean War veteran

Played football at Brown as a Guard and Joe Paterno was the QB
He sparred with Rocky Marciano who was only 5’8 and wanted to prepare for taller fighters

What a life

From Mass Live
Lloyd Hill Sr. was a football captain and All-American tackle at Brown University who went on to be a high school principal and coach in Quincy. He was a Korean War veteran who ran 37 Boston Marathons. In a fitting twist, Rich Hill’s start will come on Marathon Monday.
