I am still scratching my head over the Flyers. Trade Ghost because his cap hit was too high and then use that cap money and lots of picks on Risto, who is also a pylon but can't score, then trade for the scumbag with more picks because no one on your blue line can score.

Don't forget Ellis. When people complain about Fitz, point to Fletcher. What he's doing makes no sense whatsoever. You can disagree with Fitz on players but he has a vision and a plan and is sticking to it.

I'm fairly confident that most years it was round 1 Friday, rest of draft on a Saturday.
I thought years and years ago it was Saturday for the first round? But at any rate, I can't remember it ever being Thursday night. It may have been in 2020, which was like so on the spot and not planned out due to the covid playoffs and all that.

It was actually on a Tuesday in 2020, I had to look that up.

Schneider was defensible, we just kind of ate shit there.

I had legitimately forgotten about Camm though what a f***ing SIGNING lmao
Cammalleri was good at first too, but he died in his second year here and didn't play again after the halfway point of that season.

He was more to be expected than Schneider though, as he was already 32 (OUCH!) when we first signed him.

Fletcher is putting together a speed run at the Worst GM of all time crown

You gotta respect it
I don't know if it's coming from ownership or not, but even if it is coming from them, his moves to keep the team competitive (Ristolainen acquisition and extension) were just bullshit moves.

He'll probably sign Gaudreau and make people say nice things about him in about a week here.

I thought Camm was a good signing at the time but I also blocked out those years from my mind. What happened to him? Didn't he have a bunch of family issues that affected his career? Like a sick kid or something?

They need him because Yandle was Ghost’s temporary shitty replacement.

They signed Yandle and promised he would be gifted a spot in their line-up every game no matter what like the team was a Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Kudos to whoever got the well-earned shade into his Wikipedia entry:

They lost Voracek in the last off-season and Giroux at the TDL so their PP has lost several key members. It was the worst in the NHL last year.

Cam York is potentially getting f***ed here but I don’t know how this plays out in terms of their PP personnel (because I don’t care).

I think he did have a sick kid, but I don't think it was really a persistent issue. I think it just kept him out for a few games in his last season here.

What do I think happened to him? He just got old. He was 34 years old his last year here. That's no kid in the NHL. That's considerably over the hill in the NHL. Sidney Crosby is still really good at 34 years old, but Mike Cammalleri? Not so much.

I don't even think there's 75-80 players 34 and older that played in the league this last season. I'm pretty sure Crosby was the 60th oldest player (I went through this months ago during the season and forgot the results I came up with) to play in the league this last year. I think there was only something like 140 players (maybe it was 160?) to play in the NHL in 21-22 that were born in the 1980's or earlier.

He signed in LA after we bought him out, but got moved to Edmonton (and I don't even remember who he was traded for, but I think it was a similarly older player like him) and had a decent season for a 35 year old signed at a million dollars for a year, but there obviously was no interest from any NHL teams in the summer of 2018, as he would never play again.

I remember something about his daughter getting sick but it was injuries that did him in, he hurt his hand in 2015-16 and was never the same.

At some point in 2016-17 he couldn’t really shoot the puck right and he had 1 goal in his last 43 games after scoring 9 in his first 18 games.

And he went goalless in first 10 games, the 9 goals came in a 9 game long 14 point flurry (he had a total of 31 points in 61 games that season).

Cammalleri was listed at 5’9”/185 but played a pretty physical game for a smaller winger. Everyone knew that his size + age (32) + playing style made his 5 year contract a ticking time bomb. It wasn’t a surprise that he was only effective for 1.something seasons.

Good draft for NJ.
I think Nemec will prove the right pick considering Slafkovsky was off the board.
I like the Casey, Brennan and Fimon picks on day 2. Great value for those selections.
I also like they addressed the lack of depth at RD.

It was, and it will be again. I think this year was only like this because of the schedule, they're trying to get everything back to normal and with any luck it will be next season.

At least Ellis is a great player. Just can’t stay on the ice

The funniest part is that Gostisbehere and DeAngelo are the same exact player on the ice with the same exact contract. Only exception is the handedness.

take those out and its Risto for an entire team's draft.

And they might've helped us get Gaudreau and Hamliton in the process because of the awful cap management by Fletcher. Maybe he was a spy sent from the Devils to utterly destroy them from within.

So wait, they traded 3 picks for a pending UFA?

I think he already signed an extension but capfriendly didn't update it yet.

I saw he signed, 2x5 but he was going to be a UFA(edit: RFA) and they gave up a 2, a 3, and a 4?

Thanks @Blender but my insanity still stands.
