You’re basing that on what? He was ranked in the 2nd round.

Maybe third rounder is exaggeration. But he has conflicting rankings and STI had him 6th on remaining RD for today, with several ahead of him still available at the pick. But some /significantly/ higher rated forwards - STI AND consensus - left on the board! I get RD is a weakness but here we go again filling a spreadsheet instead of grabbing talent that's there. Nemec I love. But this, no.

These uninformed posts are out of control

Uninformed how - or at least explain to me how we're going to cycle the puck in the offensive zone. We've not addressed that.

After the first round though how much of a difference is there really between these guys? There's probably about as much of a value difference between 30 and 100 on some boards as there is between 3 and 7. Later rounds is when I'm fine drafting for organizational need, not with a top five pick.

And our new beat guy actually mocked him to us before we traded down.

That was the same rationalization for Muk...I'm fine with overdrafting a guy if you have a conviction and a good track record, but the track record is not great with this organization.

Looks like multiple people were wrong about this pick being a reach though...
It’s the 47th pick so reach has to be “who the f*** is that? Why?” not “eh? I would have picked that guy ranked near to him”.

Hughes is the only player drafted so far that gives me a twinge of regret (Luneau is ok) and a dozen players have been drafted.

I guess you're right. I just prefer to spread around the positions, especially if there are some first or high second round guys available at a spot like 46. I like Casey, but I really wanted Perevalov, Sykora, etc. They won't last until 4th round.

Just because STI has one opinion doesn’t make it fact. And the fact they some here overreacted just because of STI’s list is just….silly.

And again, I really respect STI and the work he puts into his lists, but it’s just one person’s opinion.

Greene is a risky swing for the fences for Hawks. Great size/speed, occasionally problematic game.

Ronni is a solid all-around C for Calgary -- nice, safe pick.

Casey was a solid pick. Chesley and Warren were off the board. Best available RD was Luneau, but Casey was at least in the conversation.

Stud pick for Carolina, getting the second-highest upside F available in Trikozov. Highest upside is still Perevalov.

Can't believe they're still there:

Sykora
Perevalov
Kaplan
George
