Shocker. Pick 25 comes and goes… pick 32 comes and goes and the majority of the players people wanted at 25 are still available at 33.

The difference between 25 and 38 is non-existent. Id bet money that most teams have a top 15-20 guy on their lists available most times at 38.

Julian Lutz at 38?

Too early for me.

Luneau/Chesley/Hutson I had as early-mid 20's guys, and they are the BPA for me. So I don't have too many major droppers left. If those guys are taken, Firkus would be solid but I expect him to be gone. Beck and Casey would not be bad either.

We can get one of those guys, so I am happy enough.

Owning mistakes and everything is all well and good but it definitely becomes a problem when the mistakes are piling up so much that Dubas is hemorrhaging draft capital to correct them. Not to mention this isn’t a team making deep runs every year.

So why are we supposed to have any confidence in the cap space being spent accordingly this time around?

If I were owner of the team I would say it’s all well and good to own up to your mistakes but the manager and the entourage of decision makers need to stop making bets on guys who are virtually unemployable in the league.

Understood if Mrazek and Ritchie under perform relative to contract and plans but the delta between underperforming UFA and having to completely disappear them is a little concerning.

Using Edmonton as your barometer...really? The bar that low?

Tampa has won 2 of the last 3 cups. Not even CLOSE to this situation.

Tampa winning 2 of the last 3 cups is irrelevant to this discussion.
Winning the cups shield's them from criticism for bad moves, because "they won!", but it does not change the quality of the actual move made.

And most teams haven't won. They still have to do their business and build. When you're building inevitably mistakes will be made. Obviously you wanna mitigate them as much as is possible, but still inevitable to some extent

So Chesley is who I wanted at 25. What are the chances he makes it to 38?

It's probably slim at this point.

The guys still on the board, based upon a Consolidated lists ranking are;

25th Firkus
28th Chesley
29th Trikozov
30th Odelius
31st Hutson
34th Beck
35th Havelid
36th Casey
37th Del Bel Belluz
38th Goyette
