I thank god Chuck Fletcher doesn't run a government intelligence agency. There is nothing that man can't telegraph.

You can miss me with the "Flyers really wanted Makar/Heiskanen!" topic. They just selected, generously, a middle 6 player with position uncertainty and no high end skill, with only 6 TOTAL PICKS, 5th overall after botching the entire 2021 draft. This organization is for the birds.
Ummm, Charlie said he has star level potential.

Who to believe.

I can't find the article I really want for some reason, but here's one that gives you a rough idea:

It's more important when evaluating NA players (like the USNTDP) since age cutoffs are by birth year. It's a huge advantage at that level to be the oldest player in the age group each year up the ladder.

McDavid and Wright are January birthdays also but played in the OHL at 15 and performed so you felt pretty good about those players.

I criticize almost everything this organization does. I don’t think this pick is bad. He has a great shot, plays both ends of the ice in all situations, and he seems like he has a better skill set than a “power forward” draft pick like Crouse.

Stevie Wonder also thinks this is a home run swing, with star potential. Like what single thing about his skill-set screams STAR? Dress it up how you want, it's a floor pick with a ceiling existing in HockeyGuy™ daydreams.

Legit what is his ceiling in your opinion , Kreider ?

Hindsight is 20/20, but seeing that Nazar is potentially dropping out of the T10 as well as Lekkermaki not getting much talk has me wishing we traded down.

Chicago....we need to rebuild.

Trades away a 24 year old and a 21 year old while keeping Toews and Kane.

Might honestly not be the worst move to eject from Dach. He hasn’t shown anything to this point.

I’d imagine their GM would want to continue dealing guys out but Kane & Toews got full NMC, given their meaning to the organization too that might be call that goes above him too.

Is it too late for me to learn to play hockey to walk on when inevitably all the flyers players get injured? I'm local, 22 and can skate fast!

He's nothing close to the skater that Kreider is. His pace too isn't particularly fast. I'm not going to say he's awful. But I think his 90th percentile ceiling, to paraphrase Jojo earlier, is sticking at center, with 25 goals and 50ish points, who can mesh with higher skilled players (who we don't have). That's a nice player, but we're already acknowledging that's optimistic. Does this team give a single shit about playmaking? About transition ability? About finding elite talent? This is a complimentary player, even at his best. This is worth a 5th overall pick, when you traded your 13th last year and have nothing resembling quantity? This team just shits down its own leg at every turn.
