WJC: 2022 IIHF WM U20 D2A/D2B

Romanian men's team got into trouble in 2018 (I think, 2017 maybe) when they registered Ukrainians for the WC who have not yet been eligible to represent them, they started the tournament with 15 players for that reason and just called up some youngsters to join the team asap. So if they messed up again, at least there is a precedent for it

I think they have corrected it, no 2001 born players in there anymore.
I wonder if Romania can fight Lithuania for 3rd or if they are having a hard time against Korea/Spain.
Pretty funny mix of leagues within their roster, I guess we'll see.
Indeed all three have been taken out of the roster and not replaced... Smells like sheer incompetence from Romania again.

I just realized Italy doesn't have their WHL guy which is unfortunate for them. But also, I wonder if Switzerland isn't going to try to poach him. Which would be even more unfortunate.

is not that a suprise? i thougt romania where supposed to be "better"
Well, in theory, they were supposed to be but at the same time, nobody knows anything about either of those teams. I was mostly going by our friendly result where we beat Korea 4-0 but they might have been jet-lagged, etc. Romania is weaker than most of their teams for sure though.

What??? Lithuania scored and Artur Seinut got an assist? That's impossible. He's supposed to be too young to have any impact at this tounrmanent!

Ps. I'm just messing with ya, dont think anything of it. Happy for yall and rooting for yall.

I'm just afraid this is yet another period of false hope...

Has to be some kind of conspiracy man, that's the only explanation.

We are allowing 20 shots per period on average, so far. Doesn't exactly strike me as a brilliant strategy.

I still will never understand, and forgive my ignorance, but why Lithuana and Estonia don't get clubs in bigger leagues. Like even the VHL, or sharing a KHL team. Every year it's sad that a lot of talent goes to waste.

Travel expenses and political situation. Even Dinamo Riga is really a corpse on life support so what is there to say about us. Estonia could maybe realistically dream about the team in Mestis but hockey there is probably not quite popular enough and travel expenses would still be relatively huge.

Wow, looks like Lithuania is just better. No other possible explanation.

I just discovered the VHL has no conferences. Why? That's so stupid. Everyone's travel costs go up like, multiples times. I was thinking if they did have Conferences, it'd be cool if there was a Baltic VHL team that doubled as a farmteam for Riga. Contractually obligated to play half its home games in Tartu and the other half in Vilnius. And required to have 8 members from each country at each time. That would be neat. I mean, I'm sure it's been thought of and there was some reason not to but still. The situation makes me sad to think about.

I guess to even out the playing field a bit since teams in the East would still have to cover huge distances while teams in the West could reach half of their opponents in a few hours by bus/train.

But, in general, I agree, that is not a good reason when the league is so huge.
