GWT: EPL - Matchweek 25 (ft. MW 15)

1. You have it opposite. I am saying it would be easier for the LFC fans to digest if they were punished for time wasting. Theoretically, LFC would have had the incentive to waste time. Everton doesn’t figure into that. The injury stoppage did not equate to the extra time that was given. If you want to get out the stopwatch be my guest, but even so,l the game should have been over. Everton should not have been awarded the Fergie time. That’s it.

If you want to punish LFC for time wasting, I can live with it. Rewarding Everton because two players ran into each other is not the same as that

Thank you
Nobody was rewarding anyone, time was lost and that time was added on. It was more than 2 minutes too, and even though it was a head injury (or two) Oliver allowed Liverpool to play on although even Salah was calling for the game to be halted cause that contact was nasty.

I'd focus more on the uninspired Liverpool performance, Everton looked like they wanted it more in the 45 minutes I watched..

Of course they cleared instantly. The Coote tax had to be paid. Those of us with eyes saw Konate claw it back. As for Odegaard, it didn’t happen. They looked and cleared instantly.
Okay let’s wait for the confirmation that the call from Konate was blown, just like we got confirmation that we got that the Odegaard could was blown. I will admit Konate basketball if they do. But you have to admit Odegaard basketball if they don’t. Deal?
Oh it’s the cup final excuse. That’s an original one.
It’s not excuse it’s reality. Everyone knows what was at stake for Everton today. This isn’t even controversial.
They’re not rewarding Everton. You have an absurd concept of what stoppage time is actually used for.
How is it not rewarding Everton? They got extra stoppage time (in excess of the delay) because of that. That’s a reward

Yes - Oliver butchered it and gave Everton too much time.

Of course Everton wanted it more. It was their cup final. It would be weird if Everton didn’t want it more. And they still wouldn’t have scored any goals today if it wasn’t for Oliver

This thread has gone in a fascinatingly reactionary direction. It’s a 7 point lead over Arsenal who keeps having attackers drop like flies not the City of previous seasons. Chelsea already played their way out of a title race as have City and Newcastle. Liverpool will be fine

Likely, but after an easy home match this weekend, they have Villa/City/Newcastle within 7 days and anything can happen

Liverpool dropping points wouldn’t be surprising. A healthy Arsenal that picked up a striker making up the gap would be conceivable but I’m incredibly skeptical Arsenal in their current state can do it. For any of Chelsea (14), City or Newcastle (16) to erase their points gap would take a meme level monumental collapse

I agree, I was just pointing out that if Liverpool were to stumble, it would be in those 3 matches coming up. If they are still well clear, they will have nothing to worry about

Arsenal’s attacker injuries do not matter if they can keep scoring set pieces.

7 points is not that much. Things can spiral quickly

7 points is not that much. LFC have too many dumb draws. They should be clear. Now they are in the hard part of the schedule and keep letting everyone stick around.

Most teams have terrible draws. Arsenal drew Brighton, Fulham, and Villa in recent memory and that last one was a blown two goal lead.

Not to mention blowing a lead agains Liverpool and then the 90th minute tying goal against City.

It happens to everyone.

Here’s my issue. LFC have had two chances to take three where they would have hit the after burners. The United game, and this game. They are letting Arsenal linger around, when they’ve had two chances to put them away. If LFC have those extra 4 points, and are up 11, suddenly things look a lot different. City made other teams give up hope. LFC have had the chances to do so and stumbled both times.

And yeah you are absolutely right. These draws can happen. Hell I bet Klopp’s record against Everton and United is worse than you think it is. And those games will always be tough, but those were also two bottom half teams that they needed to do the job against. There was especially no excuse today after throwing away the FA Cup so the starters would be rested

LFC are a ticking time bomb right now. They didn’t get the defensive reinforcements they needed, and have already lost the bet they took on Joe Gomez staying healthy. The contract extension situation has still not been settled, and this can spiral out quickly.

Funny the game LFC dropped the ball is against Newcastle. That should have been a win.

I never realised it but Beto did a full on obvious push on Konate that created the equalizer. What can we do? Cry like Arsenal or move on? We'll move on, nothing will change. In the end, I just hope it's the last time Oliver is involved in game for LFC and Arsenal, the guy is not serious.

Kelleher literally dropped the ball on that. Reminded me of that f'n Atletico game with Adrian in 2020 that I was at Anfield for. Just bad flashbacks of being screwed by the backup keeper. The funny thing is that was the flukey draw; the Newcastle player that scored the equalizer didn't even know where the ball was going he was just trying to keep it in.

I swear Oliver screwed us today just so the Arsenal fans would leave him alone or something. The whole game, especially stoppage time was so horribly officiated. Which the stats and eye test should both back up. Did LFC really have 11 more fouls than Everton today? Get real.

It's the same issue Arsenal had the past 2 seasons, could just never put it away when they needed to.

For the bolded, I hope you are right.

Didn’t know Everton was moving to a new stadium lol

The close proximity between Goodison and Anfield was kinda cool tbh
Yeah this is close to as local as it gets.

Regarding stoppage time, the injury timeout was 2 minutes. There were also two goal kicks where alisson took over 40 seconds and Oliver indicated he was stopping his watch. And TAA took 30 seconds on a throw in. So allowing for a reasonable amount of time for those stoppages, that’s an extra minute plus 2 minutes for the injury and yeah, it makes sense.
