2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
No worries. Thanks, anyway.

The Hlinka site does not have the standings updated. I think the Fins advance, plus the winner of the U.S. and Czechia.
Needs to be a regulation win for the US i think as a win in extra time gives them 5 points and the Czechs 6.

Bounced in off Mayer…

Edit: bounced in off Döge.

Matthew Wood being too pretty in the offensive zone and gives Bonk zero room to make a play at the blue line

Had a men’s league game tonight, just finished on the PVR.

Physical game from both sides, loved to see it.

Canada just completely overwhelmed the Slovaks, clearly a tier above.

This is a really strong team from Canada who plays fast, physical, and with pace non stop in waves. Many of these guys look to be clear cut future NHL talents.

Big game tomorrow for Canada against Sweden tomorrow. All 3 games look to be broadcasted on TSN tomorrow.

Button sees top 5 talent in him, im not so sure I agree with him. I think he’s a strong candidate for top 15 but I don’t think he’s been a top 3 player on this Finnish team thus far.
Definitely the best prospect for this draft on this team though, as good as Jarventie has been. he’s definitely a top 10 caliber player

This whole tournament, Halttunen has disappointed. Just hasn't achieved much. Compare to someone like Emil Järventie and Halttunen looks pedestrian.

Even being a first rounder would require a great performance in Liiga and he's on Tappara who's a top contender who definitely will not be handing any ice time for development purposes.

If Halttunen goes to London that could raise his stock but Finnish players have usually taken some time adjusting to CHL.

Now, I know that Slafkovsky didn't have an amazing Liiga season either but I REALLY can't see Halttunen having international performances like Slafkovsky. Even though I think Slafkovsky has his issues, Halttunen is honestly not even close. I doubt he even makes the u20 team.
He’s 100% going to go in the first round.

Uf, that lost vs Canada was expected, but not with 9 goals in net. Lets look for Swiss. That is a team, we can beat now.

Canada really didn't play well that period. I'm with Button on this one, forget about the jawing back and forth on the bench and needless extra curricular B.S and just concentrate on your own play. Need to get their discipline in order right now and clean that shit up and get their head in the game.

If I'm the Finns I'm taking notes on that.
Are you out of your mind? That was a clinic by Canada, won every single puck battle, peppered Urban with 29 shots, scored 2 goals and could have had 6 more. Just a master class of how to take away time and space, closing gaps and playing a 5 man unit. This Canadian team is hands down better than everyone here, and it isn’t close.
